Got an aga-t and some ss mesh. I've followed all the videos and how toos I can find but I am still getting a hot spot on the top of the coil between the wick and the post. I have burned the living snot out of the wick and I can get the coil to completely glow with no wick but still cannot get it too work.
Any ideas folks?

ZT posted up some images on how to sort this... Ill see if I can find it

Ill have a go at twisting it tomorrow, not trying again tonight or ill launch it

drop the coil at the top Robb and use a toothpick mate, your top coil is either to high or pulling into the positive post to tight, thats what i have found when i had a top one.

Cheers Carl, will try again tomorrow. So basically have my coils low on the wick and stretch the top wire to the post?

Not.as.low as possible mate, you want even coverage as possible but not have the top coil coming off the tip of the wick mate.

I know you have seen the vids so you know not to have them.touching and evenly spaced.

I'm going to go.with last coil at the tip of the wick or it's pulled in to tight against the posi post.

Each time twisted coil I've never had a hit spot mate, also just ordered stone flat kanthall off ebay after watching Todd's review

Not too low on the wick though, and as Carlos said, the top coil could be too tight, you want it taut, you don't want it to strangle the top of the wick

The top coil is always a problem. It's often the case that when attaching the wire to the top post you pull it too tight. Also, remember if you have one of those really bright pinpoint hotspots, it'll burn through the coating on the mesh so best to remove and re-oxidise after those.

The top coil should go to the post at 90 degrees or as close as you can get it and you need a really good connection on the top post as well.

My favourite method is to have no juice in the tank. poking around with a toothpick while pulsing the button. Once you get all the coils lit up evenly, fill 'er up.
