Something I've just read -

But here's where it gets tricky: None of the health agencies specify any health conditions that would constitute a mask exemption—and some health professionals don't believe these stated, unspecific exemptions for surgical masks or cloth face coverings are necessary. "There are no known medical conditions aside from a severe skin condition [like a very severe burn that needs medical attention] on your face that would prevent a person from wearing this type of mask,” David Kaufman, MD, pulmonologist and director of the medical ICU at Tisch Hospital, tells Health. “If you can wear a scarf to keep your face warm in the winter, you can wear a mask to prevent the spread of disease

Ah would that be a hospital in New York, you know that place where there have been a huge amount of..........................

An extract from an MSN article regarding face masks in the USA (quite interesting article actually) covering views from a a few different people, and the fact that each state has it's own different rules. Regarding David Kaufman is this.

"The bottom line: Neither Dr. Kaufman nor Dr. Keany has received any specific, official guidelines on who would be exempt from wearing a face mask"

I bet he does not have breathing problems........................

Hey, if u dont want to wear a mask, or wear a thin one, cool, more power to u, but have u ever in your life trusted that everyone else is going to protect your safety? I sure dont...ppl here stab each other over popeyes chicken sandwiches...on a slow day

I'm of the same opinion. I personally don't want to wear a mask but I am doing because it is now required by law.
There is NO (or extremely few) reason not to wear one for the short time required. If your breathing is that bad that you can't breath through a thin bit of cloth (we're not talking about a respirator here) then perhaps you shouldn't be venturing outside at the moment.

How exactly then should people that have legitimate problems (such as breathing) wearing a mask get their food shopping ? Let alone all the other things needed to live.

Not everyone can stay in their home until a vaccine has been produced, demonstrated to be effective, and issued, as well as testing the whole population afterwards.

Yeah, it sucks, it should be mandated and people should follow it, but they wont and just be really careful to stay away from ppl and try to block your face anyway u can, im not saying its right, they r dicks, but its still gonna happen

What about if one person who had breathing problems gave it to another person who has breathing problems because they both wernt wearing masks? Whose fault is it then?

I learnt by the time I had been a mechanical & electrical engineer (certificated for work on up to 1000 volt) for a few years, you were the only person that can protect yourself.
Also worked on toxic gas systems for many years.

I have seen people get their hands trapped in a hydraulic baler, a foot almost severed in a crate cleaner (and getting them out of the machinery) I have had low current shocks of 5000 volts, so I am quite used to risk assessment.

But my breathing is poor now, I consider my own safety all the time, and at the moment due to the rest of circumstances in my life, I consider not wearing a face mask the least of my worries. :)

Im sorry, im just in a pissy mood @Miss Pepper, your masks are lovely, bez, and others who cant wear masks, i genuinely understand your predicament and i sincerely wish u luck that brits r smarter than americans, and ive ranted enough, my meds must be wearing off, so i bid u adieu

I wear one in the supermarket but my glasses keep steaming up!! I have to take my glasses off and just use them when I need to. Don't like them but I think it is the right way to go but how it will be enforced is another matter!

That happens to me when I wear a mask its either glasses or mask not both for me lool. But the enforcement is ridiculous the police will not be able to enforce this nor the retail Sector. Its going to be a tuff measure to enforce. The government shouldn't of made it mandatory.

Put it down to natural selection, keep calm, and carry on!
