How much did my first tango with Capella disappoint me?

... quite a bit at first, to be honest - but then...

Good evening all,

Hope you are all well and looking forward to a weekend full of fun and frolics!

I thought I'd drop a quick post to let you know how I got on with my new Capella flavourings which I bought from both The Alchemists Cupboard and Leisure Liquids, after reading such brilliant feedback about them (the concentrates and the vendors alike) on the forum.

Both vendors are a credit to vaping - first class goods and second-to-none service, for which I thank them for.

The flavours I bought smelled absolutely heavenly in the bottle, and I mixed up 50ml 50/50 PG/VG at 10% of all of them and a secret concotion of three of them. My anticipation knew no bounds!

First taste (immediately after mixing them) was good - they tasted exactly the same as they smelled in concentrate. Of course, I had read about the steeping times typical for each of the flavours and did what most hot blooded vapers do when armed with such informative knowledge - ignored them. Over the next couple of days each and every one of them started to become tasteless - they smelled nice but tasted bland. After three days, I thought "Sod it!" I put them in a drawer and went back to my supply of Kentucky Maplewood and other "bought" juices made by experts.

Well - like the ugly duckling hiding in the reeds, a wedge of swans has appeared from said reeds in the form of five highly vapeable e-liquids! Each and every one of them has the potential to be an all-dayer and my purchase history with the Alchesmist and Leisure Liquids is about to be increased quite a bit.

Capella concentrates are, in my humble opinion, the dog's danglies and will feature in the "Ethelking Homebrew Hooch" collection VERY heavily!

One word of advice to anyone using these for the first time - read the flavour concentrate reviews and take whatever steeping steps are recommended (@Bryan123456 - my vaping God, gives very useful additional information about sweetener levels which have proven to be bang on the money to my taste) and you will be richly rewarded for your saint-like patience!

Happy mixing Dudes and Dudettes!

Good stuff, Sounds like you got your potions just right, I'm going to have to dip my toe into this mixing malarkey, sounds like fun

I have some Apple pie on the way. First attempt at mixing. Will have to see how it goes :)

They are my go to flavours now. Like a fine wine they really do need to age but when they do it's totally worth the wait :)

Out of curiosity, do you put your base and then your flavours, or the other way round?
Putting flavours first and pouring the base on them it's way more efficient in disperding the flavours in the base, and prevents the 'top' of you mixes from tasting stronger than they should when just mixed.

Hi McAldo - I mix the flavours first and place them in the "end bottle" - then I mix the nic base and PG/VG - add them to the "end" bottle. Give them a few seconds on the (sandpaperless) orbital sander. Then I place the capped "end" bottle in a bath of WARM (not hot) water and leave it there until the liquid is uniform (no "waves" in the liquid when held up to the light, if you know what I mean - when the PG/VG and flavours are in bands that look like vapour - if that makes any sense whatsoever!), another couple of seconds on the sander and then taste.

I always steep with the lid sealed and about 10mm of head space. I open the cap every day for the first three days and gently "waft" the top air out, then re-seal.

NOW - after day three, I will place the bottles (sealed) in a drawer and leave them for at least three more days before testing and adjusting them. If I add any further flavours or sweeteners, I leave them until the next day for tasting.

God only knows if this is a good way of doing things - but it seems to be working OK so far :2thumbsup:

Just made my first mix, very cloudy after shaking vigorously. Will cap them and place them in some warm water and give them another good shake. Will try a few drips later :)

jimsie33 - the cloudy thing perplexed me at first - until I realised that they were minute little air bubbles! I thought that there was some kind of oil in the flavourings and thought, "Great! Another load of money down the drain as I can't vape it!" - but all turned out well. Looking forward to hearing how you get on! :D

I've just knocked up a small 10ml batch of Capella's snick snack .... Smells fab already & is pretty dark in colour too. Gave it a quick shake & a few mins in a water bath ... Let the steeping begin

Is it ready yet ? Lol

Well they've booth been in a warm bath and stood for about half an hour, just a few drips won't hurt :) Apple pie tastes more like cinnamon with a slight bit of pie crust, definitely needs a few days of steeping. The other flavour is from perfumers apprentice, gummi bears. Strong flavour, bit too much! Will leave and see if it mellows. Both mixed at 15% flavouring. Will let you know how it pans out :)
