Isnt it odd (well, no, not really) how fast vape kit has moved on?
Three years ago i took up vaping and started on an ego, which broke in no time as did its replacement. I remember like it was yesterday reading this forum when i got my first ego from the shop and joining up when the second one broke, asking for help on what to buy and subsequently purchasing a twin EVOD kit which is still going. 10ml of juice would last just over 2 weeks.
I spent a fortune on nemi's, and still have a couple now, plus a load of other kit (tanks / drippers/ drip tips). Have very fond memories of my kraken
Until i hit upon a cloupor mini which served me well. Nearly two years and only relegated as you will see later on
@OccultScientist introduced me to the subtank at the NEC show and off we went to get me one. Remember sitting on the edge of the stage to set that up and start using it. Had previous experience of cloud comps but not as an every day thing.
The clouper and subtank served me very well, met my needs and lasted for quite some time as my go to daily kit with my EVOD as my stealth kit at work
Picked up a istick mini at vapefest last year which then became my stealth kit.
Again, all was going good, was happy with my factory coils, getting through a sensible amount of juice.
Then a few months back i am at a vape meet and trying a dripmod, omg how much had kit moved on! My brain was alive and thinking of new gear. I couldnt put the damn thing down, i did try my cloupor/subtank set up but it just didnt hit the spot. Thankfully i was lent it as there was no way i could go back to my kit.
But, and i am not sure if this is the point of the post or if this is just the ramblings of a migraine, i must admit i forgot how good "good kit" can be, yes I loved my nemi's and spent hours (when i mastered coiling) wicking and coiling, but then found i had little time to dedicate to faffing and so went down the factory coil route.
I forgot how nice mechs sit it my hand, the metal warming from my own body temprature as i vape.
I forgot the joys of wicking and coiling and how that used to be my own private time to think and enjoy building. (Currently delegating and watching with interest hoping confidence to build again will kick in). Later in the year i will try when things are less frantic for me as i know @EmbraSewerRat cant wait to show me the different coils.
I doubt i will ever personally add to my tube mech collection as i do love box mods. But there are some stunners around that work so well, have great switches and connections.
But you know what. I wouldnt change anything from the last three years as things have gone from strength to strength and such an experience to go through, many great friends have been made.
