I have a couple now and can't seem to get them to work properly. Have managed to use wick and wool on my Gamma tank as an upside down Dripper but cannot get my others vaping without a constant burnt taste :)

Dunno what kind of atties you have, but I had this problem for ages. I have just successfully got one going so well I havent touched anything elsee all weekend. After watching loads of howtos on youtube I enlarged the airholes gradually until i got to 2mm. That seems to be the sweet spot for that one so job done. Before that it was hot and burnt. I am going to do the rest of my gennies the same way.

I've got the same issues I've tried wide mesh wicks, skinny mesh wicks, ss rope, silica, ekowool, everything just can't get em wicking.

Less mesh. Here is how I do it. Vapes lovely.
I like to use .32mm kanthal so I cut off about 100mm and burn it to stop it being so springy.
Then I get a drill bit that is about .5mm less than the wick hole and do a 7 wrap coil around it.
I then put the drill in the airhole and slide the coil into position and attach it to the negative and positive connection.
I then test the ohms and if too low, I add another wrap.
Then remove the drill and pulse it to make sure there are no hotspots.
I then cut a rectangle of 400 SS mesh about 20mm x 40mm and torch it.
Roll it until it is small enough to fit through the coil with a twist and loose in the wick hole. Torch it again when you know it fits.
Put the wick in and pulse it again
Fill up the tank and give it a few minutes to soak through.
If you haven't drilled the air hole, it needs doing. I like an airy draw so drill mine to 2mm. More air equals cooler vape, and more vapour.

It may need a short while to bed in properly. Its normal for the first few vapes to taste a bit metally.

as above but also check your coils are lighting up from the middle coil to the outer coils and all have the same glow, sounds like you have a Hot spot or short somewhere

This little Aga-S vapes like a good un.

I start by locating a drill-bit just a little smaller than the wick hole.I then wind the coil onto this and slide it off, torch, crimp, slide it back on the drill-bit.Then slide the drill-bit into the wick hole and leave it there while I tighten the screws on the coil. This ensures the coil is directly over the hole, even after tightening the screws(as this can pull the coil out of shape/away from the hole)Then I make the mesh wick, torch it & roll it so that its a good fit in the coil(also has a thin hole through the middle of the tube of mesh)Once the wick/coil is setup,I then pulse the power to make sure the coil heats evenly before adding juice & settling back to enjoy sweet tasting clouds.

By using this method,if the taste goes off,the mesh wick can be removed without damaging the coil,or if I wish to change flavour, the mesh can be removed & torched clean, next flavour added,& away again. The entire atty can be stripped, cleaned and reassembled without needing new coil/wick,and the coil/wick will last an age(unless you're using a juice like licorice that clogs the mesh & refuses to burn off, wash off, scrape off)

As above but only a very light torching of the mesh to burn off any residue, basically mesh still looks silver and unburnt, pulse on mech with used battery to sort out hot spots as above

Thanks. The only method. Can get to work is cotton. Wire mesh... Nope :( silica dropped down the hole and then standard coil on top... Nope :(
