What's new

I can't get any of my genesis type atty's vaping nicely :( any advice ?

Have checked for hot spots and pulse to start with and everything looks OK until I fill up with juice and then try and burnt vape every time

Thanks chegs I have seen that on a few videos and will try that.... Looks so easy watching

I use all the above suggestions and they all work well, only thing I would add is to not put too much wattage through a genny especially when its settling in too much power will give hot legs to the coil for sure. So if its on a vamo or svd type crank the wattage down low till it vapes without burnt taste then gradually keep upping the volts/amps/watts till it starts to give a slight burnt taste then back of half a watt or so then its good to go.

Im using wire rope at the moment and to be honest I get far better flavor from my genesis atties than my kayfun or fogger, for me the vacuum type are ok if you want to blow clouds of vapor but the taste comes too dense rather like drinking the liquid straight from the bottle! nah give me a genny any day! only thing I dont like about them is they are not easy to carry round due to having to watch they dont get laid on the side or they will leak.

You just need to persist and follow the suggestions here and you will succeed.

Good luck

your not ready to put the juice in then mate, if you get a burnt taste you have a hot spot, its hard for ppl to explain on a thread what it should look like(i've tried so many times on here with members) , my advise is go check some of scotts review and he will show pulsing a hot spot out.

To start with when setting up never use a fully charged battery use a half used one and pulse that bitch of a coil until they all glow evenly from the centre first as with a micro coil does :) , and when you have them glowing all at the same colour keep pulsing to build up a little on the wick.

There are other factors you could be

strangling the wick
coils not touching evenly
a strand of mesh causing it
wick touching the base of the atty (which is fine as long as your wick is oxidixed correctly)
Wrong mesh for the juice (sounds daft but all my atties work fine on 200 & 325 anything else its pants)

Keep at it as everyone has there own way with different mesh and different kanthal or wire

I know it's not very helpful but my opinion is that genny attys aren't that great, their a pain to set up and provide a decent vape at best when set up perfect, genesis attys are an old style of vaping and better methods have been created, it's like carto tanks they were good when that was the only way to vape. I stick with bottom coil rba's and drippers for ease of use and performance. Join the future!

Obviously this is entirely opinion and many people may disagree. It's just my two pence :)

Less mesh. Here is how I do it. Vapes lovely.
I like to use .32mm kanthal so I cut off about 100mm and burn it to stop it being so springy.
Then I get a drill bit that is about .5mm less than the wick hole and do a 7 wrap coil around it.
I then put the drill in the airhole and slide the coil into position and attach it to the negative and positive connection.
I then test the ohms and if too low, I add another wrap.
Then remove the drill and pulse it to make sure there are no hotspots.
I then cut a rectangle of 400 SS mesh about 20mm x 40mm and torch it.
Roll it until it is small enough to fit through the coil with a twist and loose in the wick hole. Torch it again when you know it fits.
Put the wick in and pulse it again
Fill up the tank and give it a few minutes to soak through.
If you haven't drilled the air hole, it needs doing. I like an airy draw so drill mine to 2mm. More air equals cooler vape, and more vapour.

It may need a short while to bed in properly. Its normal for the first few vapes to taste a bit metally.

This is the way I was told to do it and I had good results. The pulsing thing seens a silly thing to do but dont do it at your pearl it makes a difference honest

Gennys are good and will give a dry hit if setup incorrectly.
Bottom coils are good and will flood if setup incorrectly.
Flip a coin ;-)

This is the point TBH the reason PPL call Genny tanks and drippers is that they give up too quick. Honest a properly set up Genny tank and you will never look back. But then again I am a old fucker

I dont doubt you can get a good vape from them and when you find something that you've mastered and you like your going to stick with whats familiar, and if that's what works for you that's what vaping is all about, finding what's perfect for YOU :) I had an rsst and managed a few good builds but it just wasn't for me. I find they are very unforgiving, where as a dripper or bottom coil I can chuck a micro coil in half asleep and it'll still be a great vape.
