I started making my own a couple months back and I've always used Capella concentrates because they seem to get a good write up most the time.
However, with every batch I've made they tend to suck. When vaping they are always very mild in flavour despite using 20% flavouring and usually 70%+ VG. I'm only using an MVP20W at the moment on a single coil build around 1.5 ohms but I doubt that's the main reason my mixes always taste so bland. Is it my VG and PG ingredients? I tend to keep the nicotine quite low too at around 10mg yet still mixes taste mild and are sharp to inhale. I should also mention that steeping for a week doesn't seem to change much either.

Any advice here vape gurus?

Cheers, Peacefrog.

Vg doesn't carry flavouring very well so you will need to use more flavouring. Try a pg heavy mix @ 70pg/30vg no Nic. 10-15%/flavouring.

I never got on so well with capella either and my DIY really started to come alive when I started to try different makers but the costs can add up.
With the sharp taste it could be that you are using too much flavouring. my range goes from 10 percent to around 16 depending on how I feel. I would suggest buying a few Inawera flavours because they are a very high concentrate so if you put 20 percent in you would blow your lungs and tongue off. Many can be mixed at 5 percent or so and this could test to see if its too much concentrqte that is making the mix sharp. A few flavours that I like from them are lemon, eucalyptus and mint and coffee.
For a soft menthol I really enjoy natures favourite organic menthol. Its a little softer than most and I find very hard to go wrong with e0ven if you're were to try.
Steeping is not necessarily needed and it is very subjective. Most juices I make can be vaped straight away but their flavour profile changes the longer its left.
Try out a few flavours from different suppliers. Inawera, perfumers apprentice, natures favourite ( tangerine is super ) pink spot, mom and pops etc. Dont have to spend a fortune just 1 or 2.
For me I was in the same boat and started with capella and could not getbit to my liking. Good luck

1. Give the concentrates a really good shake before using. 2. Double check your calculations. 3. Along with leaving to steep (if you are a "steeper"), giving your diy's a good shake, a couple of times a day, helps a lot, especially with high VG mixes.

Thanks guys I'll give everything mentioned a go!

gabianovape87, please could you post a link to a trusted vendor for the Inawera flavours?

Cheers peacefrog.

Try vamp vape diy liquid they are packed with flavour, also VG carries flavour fine you just need a higher wattage setting because it has a higher boiling point than PG, I tend to find higher VG smoother.

What atty are you using?

t juice concentrates are the ones to try. i generally use 15%. my nicotine is pg based and i top up with vg. no idea what pg/vg ratio it is but the liquids are usually good to go straight away with no steeping time. +1 for vamp vape also, their strawberry milkshake is divine. good luck and keep at it. i mixed allsorts of shite when i first started mixing. its just a case of finding which concentrates work for you.

I've just made a mix of about 50;50 to see if the flavour carries better or not. I don't honestly like too much PG because I usually get a sneezing fit when I vape high PG mixes but if it taste a lot better I will have to adapt! :D I think a big part of the problem is using an RDA on a MVP and maybe my builds too... and my mixes... actually it's probably a combination of substandard everything :8:
