hi
i bought two of these directly from china IMotion2 V+/provari v2. http://royalsz.en.made-in-china.com...Cigarette-with-18650-Battery-IMOTION-V2-.html
the battery that ships is a 1500mah icr 18650 3.7v. for a few weeks no problems till i got more batteries. on fitting, they all produced a an error on the display 8.8. some times it alternates between showing the voltage and 8.8.
ultrafire brc 18650 3000mah button top.3.7v...a few flat top.
aw 18650 2000mah imr button top etc.
now the supplied battery hardly runs before it to shows the error.
i opened the 2nd one [which hadnt been used] and the error is present on that one as well for the new batteries. havnt tried it with the supplied battery. it gave 8.8 fault on the original one i was using.
[batteries recharged on the supplied charger.]

all this leaves me in the mire up to my kneck [so dont make waves].
ideas welcomed.

Hi chrisjon new to the planet? Welcome
Im afraid I don't have any experience of this particular device. Alarms are ringing in my head straightaway with the vendor because they should NOT be calling this device a Provari! Inaccurate and misleading. Provaris are exclusively made by an American company called Provapes here http://www.provape.com/#
AW IMR batteries are normally top notch so I'm puzzled if they give you problems with your devices Do you have any other device you can use the batts in to test them? Did you get them from china too? Unfortunately there are inferior copies about and I would advise anyone to source their batteries from trusted vendors on here.

Hi chrisjon, welcome to POTV, no debating that they look like IMotion V2s, which have some features not dissimilar to a Provari V2, but no, they aren't provari's, one of the main features of the provari being your bank manager calling you at the middle of the night asking why you spent how much on a what now?

Might be worth investing in a new charger, and maybe something like a vamo vv/vw, to be honest, as trying to resolve this could take an age, and may cost more anyway.

It appears this is a known issue,

Hello everyone!

tldr: skip to the end, there's question there

I was getting tired of EGO and since I'm low on cash I bought imotion 2v+ (chinese provari ripoff)

It served me well, only (unprotected) battery that I got with it was 1500 mAh and VERY bad.
Ie I would get 3 hours of vaping then have to charge it for like 7 hours.

So finally yesterday I get some 18650 (They are not available nowhere nearby)
They are Trustfire 18650 2500 mAh 3.7V.
But my <acronym title="Personal Vaporizer" style="border-width: 0px 0px 1px; border-bottom-style: dotted; border-bottom-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); cursor: help; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); background-color: rgb(250, 250, 250);">pv</acronym> won't work with them.
I figure that <acronym title="Personal Vaporizer" style="border-width: 0px 0px 1px; border-bottom-style: dotted; border-bottom-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); cursor: help; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); background-color: rgb(250, 250, 250);">pv</acronym>'s pcb kicks in together with battery's protection and it fires for a split second and turns off
displays random error (all leds lit on display so 88 which isn't an error code at all, there are only 2, f1 for faulty<acronym title="Atomizer" style="border-width: 0px 0px 1px; border-bottom-style: dotted; border-bottom-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); cursor: help; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); background-color: rgb(250, 250, 250);">atty</acronym> and f2 for short)

So, finally I get mad because I already gave away ego's and passthrough
And I remove protection, similar to this guide: How to remove protection circuit from 18650 batteries. - Laser Pointer Forums - Laser Pointers and Laser Pointer info

Now everything works fine, I can vape like a champ. And I noticed that battery is now same lenght as my original battery. (tho this one has button top)

Question:
Is this safe? Is removing protection from this battery potentially dangerous? My <acronym title="Personal Vaporizer" style="border-width: 0px 0px 1px; border-bottom-style: dotted; border-bottom-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); cursor: help; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); background-color: rgb(250, 250, 250);">pv</acronym> acts the way it's supposed to. Everything is fine.
I just wan't to ask to be safe.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

I will reiterate what a lot of the replies to the above state and that is DO NOT remove protection for your batteries...mkaay.

hi
Provaris are exclusively
yes its probably a knock off.

AW IMR batteries]
i have a guaranteed imr battery but that gives the error. the others were from ebay.
DO NOT remove protection
not sure were that came from as i wouldnt know how anyway. but thanks. all the batteries are protected according the sale description.

the problem is the way it chews up the original battery and why the others dont work.
i will be trying out the 2nd untried device and see how that goes.
thanks for the replies so far.

No, it is.

Photo? AW IMR batteries are sold only by registered vendors with the gentlemen direct from AW IMR, if you got it from anywhere else, its probably a copy too.

The battery that came with it is shit, thats why. It's most like a mass produced crap battery with very little behind it in quality.

You will want a battery that has a higher amp drain than a standard 3.7v battery, try a battery with 4.8 or 5.6amp drain like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-SenyBo...onics_Batteries_SM&hash=item460c82e181&_uhb=1

hi
the imr came from here: http://www.ecigwizard.com/accessories/batteries-chargers/mod-batteries/
now the supplied battery hardly runs before it to shows the error.
i may have solved this issue or not. the device has a centre pin in the main body that connects/touches the centre pin on the cartomiser.
one device is proud of the housing. the other not. disassembled and pushed the pin further thro'. nothing locks it. its just in a plastic insulator, so will drop bach i expect.
will be testing later.
the other batteries show 8.8 on either device.
thanks for all the replies.

Err I was going to suggest checking the 510 connector ans my IMotion is very good at indicating when there's a short or atomizer malfunction. Cartomizers are renowned for being the most badly produced and unreliable/short lived attachments and maybe you have some duff ones.

If you dissassembled the 510 connector centre post then you will either have dislodged a +ve connection that was tucked into it or more likely broken a soldered connection that will need to be fixed. If you have this type of problem again it is best to switch the device off and gently prize the centre pin upwards, carefully a little bit. Also when you connect cartomizers / atomizers/ tanks - it doesn#t need to be a tight fitting - just in contact.

hi
the 2nd device works with all but the button top batteries.
the problem was the positive pin in the centre of the device itself [not the atty] being pushed down. i would think working like that it created more resistance and hence the battery charge didnt last long. the pin just floats in an insulator its not fixed or held securely. the ego is the same.
crappy design.
dislodged a +ve connection
lol
yes. broke the wire to the center pin and screwed the insulator. impossible to solder in place. so now its u.s. till i find a small enough plastic/fibre washer to repair it.
doesnt seem to be any spares for ecigs on the net.
thanks to all for contributions.
