Is there a mixing calculator that takes into account the PG / VG content in nicotine?

Hi apes,

Most of the mixing calculators that I've seen (including our very own POTV calc) do not take into account the base pg / vg content of the nicotine. Does anyone know of a calculator that does so that a more accurate % recipe can be calculated.

Thanks in advance - SB.

SB,

For home mixing, using syringes, you are not going to get it 100% exact. As my preference is for 50/50 mix, I just follow this pattern for 10ml of 18mg strength, the key is using Nic in VG and not PG, as you sometimes cant hit 50/50, and using 72mg NIC not 54, as maths makes it easier: -

2.5ml Nic Base
2.5ml VG

Dependant on strength of flavour, If I use 20% (2ml, then add 3ml of PG) If 15% (1.5ml, then add 3.5ml of PG).....you get the gist.

As for ethyl maltol etc, these quantities are so low, that it has a minimal effect, I thiught, but please dont quote me, they are usually suspended in PG.

Apologies, if I have just taught you to suck eggs, but this for me is good enough, because I dont sell to anyone :)

The on site one does either or automatically, regardless of what the base is in...so if the base if PG and the FCs are pg and you use VG as the dillutant, just add the percentage of the base and fc to get the % of th PG

If you have an iPhone or an iPad there's the Liquix app which I've used, not sure if it's the best but it works well for me. You can store in it the kind of base ingredients you have (I only have VG nic base) and it uses that to calculate towards the end percentage of my VG content.

Bear in mind I'm really new to mixing but it's worked for me so far :)

Thanks for the reply AndyC1971 and KulrMeStoopid.

I've been on and off about mixing for a while and all that shite in the wee hours of this morning actually got me thinking about % ratios (so some good did come of it) and reading some of your posts KMS has 're-invigorated' me into mixing. I used to mix up a vanilla custard that came out fine so I don't know why I ever stopped really but if I venture back into it I'd like to be a little more accurate, hence this post.

If I use a 72mg nic then the % of the nic in the VG bottle would be minimal as far as ml is concerned so using your method Andy you'd have almost 50% vg and if you went for a standard mix of 2ml flavouring then that would mean according to your calcs that there'd only be 30% PG. IE a 50/30 mix rather than your preferred 50/50 mix.....I don't want to get it to laboratory standards (:grin2:) but just want to understand your 'thinkology' behind it.

Once again, thanks and all that - SB.
