Italian super tax on ecigs

Well as I recall it was an Italian politician who was the first to be honest and ask the question..what are we going to do about ecigs, we are losing so much tax revenue from diminishing cigarette sales?

Well guess what? Fag sales are at their lowest in Italy for 15 years and now ecig sales are going to be taxed a whopping 80.5%

It's kind of inevitable that governments will be panicking about huge revenue losses but wait....the tax on fags is because of the health cost to the nation..a 'sin tax'........and the justification for 80% tax on ecigs is?

Wow! I actually don't have too much of a problem with paying tax on vaping (if it's the choice of a ban or a tax, I'll take the tax!), but that is just taking the piss!

I don't understand italian so can't look up what the present tax on cigarettes is in Italy,if it's lower than this incredible 80.5% then I'm speechless.I don't object to paying tax on my vaping gear,but loading an 80.5% on them is irrational as one reason people vape is it costs less than tobacco so increasing their price to equal tobacco will reduce the numbers turning to vaping simply because they'll never try them out in case they don't like vaping.
