Italian super tax on ecigs

I don't understand italian so can't look up what the present tax on cigarettes is in Italy,if it's lower than this incredible 80.5% then I'm speechless.I don't object to paying tax on my vaping gear,but loading an 80.5% on them is irrational as one reason people vape is it costs less than tobacco so increasing their price to equal tobacco will reduce the numbers turning to vaping simply because they'll never try them out in case they don't like vaping.

According to to this older report...when ecig tax in Italy was estimated as likely to be 58% (bad enough ) it was described as 'almost as high as ' the tax on tobacco. Sounds to me like 80.5% (how do they work these figures out anyhow? Point five of a per cent?) will overtake it

That is just UTTERLY mental!! As was said,tobacco taxation is high to account for the increased costs of treating the illness caused by it,& to try and stop people buying ciggys.So levying a tax THAT high is saying to people..."look,we know you vape to reduce your chances of dying an ugly early death...but we WANT you to smoke so you die & reduce our workload considering the needs of half the population"

Surely more people will mix their own if the prices go up? I can't see how they can tax pg, vg and flavourings so they'll target the nic bases only. In which case, diyers won't see that much of an increase because such a small percentage is actually nic.
