Wanted to progress from my Ego CE4/5 and jumped in and bought the above. Happy with purchase (based on the fact that it's here), however would appreciate advice on batteries and charger (which I am sure has been asked a million times). iTaste arrived with a Samsung 18650 battery and a very basic charger with one of those nasty adapter plugs. Obviously that's a waste of time as it has "fire hazard" written all over it. As such, any thoughts on batteries and a more robust charger would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance - I've only been at this for 5 weeks, and I am trying to learn as fast as I can...

I have a Nitecore I2 charger which works well (purchased from myepack along with my SVD)
Any genuine battery charger by Nitecore, Efest or Xtar should be good and as for batteries I use Torchy's batteries (you will find him over on UKV or ebay)
Very good batteries and prices or any named battery by AW, or efest are good.
Just avoid any battery with Fire in the name (especially from Fleabay) they are usually well named :58:

If you bought your SVD from a UK supplier get in touch with them and ask them why they are breaking the law.

If you got it from China, then obviously China doesn't care so much about minor details like laws or electrical safety, so just throw said charger into a handy bin.

Torchy the battery boy comes highly recommended by many people for batteries - and has a shop on ebay here. IMR batteries are the best type for an SVD and EFest are an excellent make.

XTar or NiteCore chargers are the best ones on the market right now.

a 2bay charger and 2 EFest IMR 18650 batteries will set you back about £30 but will last ages (the charger years, and the batteries a good year+)

Thanks for the responses thus far - I do find the whole battery thing a tad confusing, though I am sure I can dig out the info about it all and educate myself a little more. It's just all a bit new and bewildering at the minute.

Vaper Caper - Yes, I ordered from a UK vendor... I should have known better, tbh. I am sure that it's okay, but an international plug with an adapter is hardly ideal. Also, already ordered a little liquid from you. Fantastic service from you, so thanks!

It's not OK.

It breaks the "plugs and sockets regulations" at least and probably some other stuff too. Last week Trading Standards fined a UK company £7000+ for selling dodgy unsafe chargers.
If you're a UK vendor you are responsible for making sure that what you sell to people is safe and isn't going to cause a problem. It's one of the most basic responsibilities you have.

What VaperCaper said......

I purchased a kit from a reasonably well known UK vendor. Lava tube, batteries and charger. The charger was neither pictured or described in the advert. It was one of those cesspit 2 pin jobbies with an adaptor. After a couple of emails they eventually sent me a decent charger free ofcharge that I wasn't actually scared to plug into the mains.

Don't just roll over and accept it!

I meant it's okay from the perspective that I should have been more careful (which I will be in future). I now know that it's not "okay" in a legal sense thanks to you... I did take one look at it and think "I'm not using that thing long term". I shall be ordering a safe replacement today, which is why I asked on here.

Lipsy don't order a new one, get in touch with the vendor and ask them to fulfil their legal obligations by providing you with a compliant product!

I have no problems complaining about the suspect charger - in fact, I will do so. However, I will still order a new one based on the recommendations of folks on here. I put the safety of my home and family above all else - it's not worth the risk.

If you are not much of a one for complaining you could always send them a link to this thread and say "what do think of that then?"
