Hey I'm pretty new to vaping after smoking for around 8 years. I bought a smok mod around a year ago but have only just started to use it. I went into a vape shop a couple of weeks ago and the guy in there first suggested I start on 18mg nicotine as I smoked 15-20 roll ups a day, but when I told him which mod and tank I have (smok gx2/4 & big baby beast) he said 18mg would be too strong for me. He recommended i start on 6mg which satisfies me eventually but I feel I am needing quite a few hits at a time before I'm satisfied. This means 10ml juice is only lasting me approximately 2 days!. How long does 10ml last everyone else? My sister says it can last her 5 days! I don't mind the cost but I'm just wondering if you think I'd be better off on a higher nicotine dose? Or Would a higher dose be too harsh for me because of the vape im using?
Also I read somewhere about an e-cig trial found that if you aren't vaping a high enough nicotine dose for your needs you will obviously compensate by smoking more of the lower dose but it said this is bad for you because you are inhaling more cancer causing chemicals? What do you think? Lol Thanks in advance for any advice/opinions!

I do more than 10ml in a day lol

I would up your nic to around 12mg and see how you get on. You'll know when you've have too much nic as feel like shit with a headache/sick feeling.

Hi and welcome [emoji4] 10ml won't last me my first hour of the day vaping at high wattage and I vape about 70ml a day so using the setup you have 10ml is lasting you longer than most, as for cancer causing chemicals I don't believe that they is any in your vape and your shop bought juice has been tested to make sure they is none so don't worry about that [emoji4] if you want to cut down on your juice intake and have 10ml of juice last a week then you need to vape a smaller tank with a higher ohm coil so the vape simulates how you use to smoke so something like a Aspire nautilus tank that uses much lower wattage [emoji4]

Smoks are juice guzzlers. 10ml is nothing compared to what others get through on kit like that. I'd advise getting a less cloudy kit.

It is probably better for you to vape less at a high nic level: so you aren't inhaling as much of the eliquid ingredients overall. I'm not aware of any research showing cancer causing chemicals in vapour though. Smoking tobacco on the other hand ...

Just up your nic level(12 or 18mg) until it becomes too much, you'll know when you're ready to drop it down a notch(vaping will start to become harsh and less pleasant, coils being spent aside).

I'd suggest(if i may) buying a couple of bottles(10ml) of the same flavour(maybe something you know you already enjoy) but one in 12mg and the other in 18mg. I'd bet you'll know which suits you better before they're gone.

You can't use 12 to 18 in such a powerful subohm tank as most at that strength have too much PG and the nic will Rip the ops throat right out and they is better ways of dealing with the situation like a new more suitable tank are you trying to kill the op off? [emoji23]

The guy in the vape shop suggested 6mg for a reason. Higher nic is not pleasant for most people in that kind of tank.

I didn't know the OP had a sub-ohm tank, but that new information aside it's clear the current nic level isn't doing it. Maybe a new tank(MTL focussed / higher nic) is in order.

Hi @Emm-y and welcome to the planet.

i will start with a ikkle rant.
"Also I read somewhere about an e-cig trial found that if you aren't vaping a high enough nicotine dose for your needs you will obviously compensate by smoking more of the lower dose but it said this is bad for you because you are inhaling more cancer causing chemicals?"

all i can say on this is its total bollocks and most prob from america where they talk out of their asses.

i can agree with it if the above was about cigs as yes, if you smoked say silk cut you would take deeper drags to get the same hit as say a bensons or marlboro so yes there was a higher risk but with cigarettes only. vape only has 3 or 4 ingredients. VG / PG / flavouring / nicotine.
nicotine is as bad as coffee. unlike tar in cigs which is what has the cancer causing carsogens by their thousands in it.

now back on track :)
the vape shop was right if you are using a smok tank which are subohm which use higher wattage so need lower nicotine or you would get a head rush even with 9 or 12mg and nausia.
subtanks are for big clouds so much higer wattage which in tern uses much more juice. these are classed as direct to lung tanks.

mouth to lung tanks are the opposite. they use much lower wattage average 10-14watts so use a lot les juice so can take much higher nicotine like 12 or 18mg

using 10ml in 2 days is good going in a subtank. i average 35ml a day.

youve come to the right place for advice and theres always plenty on to help out no matter how stupid you might think the question is its normaly not so ask away.
