mmmm I have the very ingredients, I have struggled to get a VC to taste right, it often tastes....well....not sweet though the custard flavour is there. I am awaiting the DDL so that might be the key....will have a bash at those percentages and see what its like....cheers.

I love it.. never had success with EM, but with this ez sweetz it is lovely.

Tried a 30Ml batch and while nice it is a little sweet..which is strange as at 5ml it was perfect... so if anyone tries this at 30 ml after they try a sample.. i would start at 4 drops then progress... still lovely though!

I've spent a few months trying to create a decent vanilla custard. I've got a row of 10ml bottles containing various mixtures and complete range of percentages of cappella, FVD, DDL, one or two other flavour combinations that have been steeping for months and they all taste ufcking orrible!

I bought a bottle of Mrs B's VC from ECW to see what VC is supposed to taste like and apart from the fact it's 70% PG it is bloody gorgeous. What in Gods name am I doing wrong? I'm gutted to be honest.

That recipe is on a dozen other forums and it's virtually identical to the first mix I tried. It tasted like shite when I first mixed it and it still taste like shite a 7 week steep later. I think it's the vanilla that's the problem. I mixed some Capella up without the vanilla in and it was half way decent. Think I made that a bit too strong in flavour though. Didn't really get a chance to let it steep though, my son nabbed it and loves it.

I did experiment with TPA caramel in place of the vanilla and both my wife and son likened it to Cornish ice cream. That didn't get to steep long either.

I've got some more Capella custard coming any day now. Not going to tell anyone here I got it this time until it's had a good steep and I get a chance to taste it.

Problem is I've never tried GVC so I have nothing to compare it to. Only Mrs B's and that's 70% PG so I couldn't really try that properly.

Agree Tony, I just mixed this identical, had a drip to test and it tastes rank....I also think its the FVD...gonna replace that with banana I think. Will see what its like after a steep.
