Kick at the back of the throat

Hi Guys I wonder if anyone could give me some advice. I started vaping 2 weeks ago, and I loved the kick at the back of the throat. I started on an Itaste and switched up to an Itaste VTR. Now though except in the mornings I don't get the kick so much, except when up the VTR with a Protank 3 on it to W4.8 I have a resistance of 2.1. I'm scared I'll burn out the coils but I'm vaping like mad to get the kick back. I was wondering if should change to a pipe flavour, I have Havana cigar flavour from e-cig Uk in Wembly London. I know I should be using the VTR on a W4.25 but I can't get a throat kick on anything less. I read you can get vape mouth so maybe I've got vape throat?

Vape Tongue will effect vapour taste and can be remedied by drinking water to which should be increased while vaping anyway as causes dehydration, there are some juices to also help remedy Munki Serum, also the throat hit is more from juices with a higher PG than VG as VG will decrease flavour but increase vapour production, so you want higher PG mixes.

If you search on here or elsewhere for Throat Hit you will find lots of information.

What level nicotine do you use? A higher level will give a better hit so maybe consider that?

Maybe look at different juice makers, some liquids out there are rubbish, others are amazing. The other thing to note is that you won't get a cigarette taste from an e-liquid, it just doesn't happen.

And why not up the wattage on your device? You'll soon know if you have gone too high - the flavour will start to taste burnt or the throat hit might get too harsh. If you burn a coli its no biggie, just pop a fresh one in (you have got spares right)

Its annoying when people tell you a lot of this is trial and error but its true - no one can tell you how your vape should be - only you know when you find a sweet spot, so have a play, experiment, try different things and you'll get there in the end.

There's lots of information out there if you look.

Hope that helps.

Hi stescouse! It looks like you may be under-powering your atty. A 2.1 ohm coil at 4.8W is only 3.17 volts, lower than a standard eGo battery! (3.7 Regulated)
Looking at a Safe Power Vaping Chart...

thanks to vaporsworld.com

A 2.0 ohm atty is good from 3.0V/4.5W all the way up to 4.0V/8.0W so you can safely up your power until you get the "Sweet Spot" where your flavors pop and the Throat-Hit (TH) increases. I use the 2.0 ohm instead of 2.2 for a safety margin. Now, I wouldn't recommend pushing your power all the way up to the maximum listed, you do risk dry hits and burning juice, but the coil should handle it!
And... as mentioned, increasing your nicotine and/or PG will also add TH.

My mod goes up to 15W but I only vape at 6-8W usually. 80/20 PG/VG and 24mg/ml nicotine gives good throat hit still at 3 weeks now....
but find I am now chasing the flavour rather than the hit. Vaping seems more akin to pipe smoking in some ways, at least to me. I was on 30 analogues/day for 32 years so still early days...

PG content and Nicotine content affect throat hit. For example a 100% VG 0 Nicotine e liquid is going to have virtually no throat hit at all, whereas 70% PG/30% VG with 1.2mg nicotine will have a throat hit of which I liken to smoking rollups, which I found smoother than normal cigs.

I've heard of some vendors round here telling my friends that nicotine has nothing to do with it and the throat hit all lies on the PG which is a spout full of lies. 0 nic 100% VG will have no throat hit but 1.8 nic 100% VG definitely will for example.

Probably repeating what others before me have said. Throat hit (throat kick) is, imo, relative to nicotine content, high the nic, greater the kick. VG, which loads of folks reckon kills throat hit, will kick like a horse at nicotine levels above 2.0mg. If you want a corking throat hit, without the nicotine, then strong menthol juices will do it for you.

As others have said, lots to consider.

I tend to vape at around 4v, which on a 2.1ohm coil is the equivalent of 7.62 watts.
So I would definitely ramp up your watts and see how you get on.

Secondly is the juice as others have said.
Look for higher nic levels (I vape at 1.8mg) and higher PG ratios (I prefer 60/40 PG/VG) until you find what works for you.

Hey guys thanks for all the useful advice, I suppose I was wary of turning up the power, vaping is like going back to science class LOL. I'm racking up the power now I know I'm not going to blow up my VTR. Around 3.6V seem good. The other setting is power and I guess that is watts. They thing came without a manual, so I've been looking at Youtube review. I've got some 80/20 mix juice coming in the post to add to the throat hit instead of the 60/40 I'm on now. The Protank 3 gives me a better throat his that the Iclear 30s it came with.
