below is the link to the pdf version of the last Kings Collage study on vaping It is one of the papers that the government was using that they now ignore

what is interesting is in 2021 smoking and vaping went down but come 2022 they both shot up as we all came out of the last lockdowns here we see the rise in disposable use this is the Achilles heal but the question.... after lockdown what made that push to sudden vaping and smoking use compared to before that has not been explained in short vaping went from 4% to 8.6% in young people but smoking also went up from 4.1% to 6% that is interesting

Probably the most interesting stat in that is the use of disposables in the age group 11-18 took off in 2022 when it went up to 52.8% from levels around 5-7% in the 3 previous years. It's a pity there is no similar analysis for adult vapers.

The thing is what strikes me is why did it happen from the lowest levels in the previous 3 years to a huge increase both in vaping and also a recovery in smoking ok we can all read headlines saying it was the industry or tic tok but such a fast climb for what reason. To know the reason the mechanism is key to understanding and also the same situation happened in the USA vaping and children went up then went down smoking in some states has increased due to the ban on vaping

But the big elephant in the room still can’t be seen.

.. increase both in vaping and also a recovery in smoking...
It could be down to a more prevalent psychological mindset coming out of Covid - "Hey, we're not gonna live forever, let's live a little..."

I bet all leisure activities experienced a bounce-back after Covid...
