I'm 2.5 years into vaping, I've had my fair share of vape shiny things, but I tend to find one that works for me and stick to that. My last kit was an iLeaf30 with a Kayfun 4 clone. I had good innings with the Kayfun, having had the 3 before that, but it was time to step up,
After reading loads of reviews I still couldn't make up my mind so I went into a very good shop called Vape and Juice (Vape On The Green) in N21 which I've used a few times and again they didn't disappoint. The shop is laid out very well, I wouldn't say they have an enormous selection on devices, same goes for juices, but it's modest and more than enough if you want to buy something, most importantly the staff are in my view, the best I've come across in terms of knowledge. I've been to so many shops and the staff really don't know very much more than the basics. These guys know their stuff. They hold vape nights in their shops, be it for coil building, cloud chasing or just socializing with fellow vapemonkeys. I'll be clear on that I have no affiliation with the shop, and most their staff wouldn't even know my face.
I went in and after the initial formalities I said I was looking for a new set up. First question I was asked was "what did I currently use and why did I want to change". I explained that over time, I wasn't getting enough vape and my taste buds had become too used to the set up and I was struggling with flavour. the fella went on to ask what my coil build skills were like, what sort of size set up I liked etc etc. He went on to show me half a dozen tanks that he felt suited the bill but at the same time singled out the Sigelei Moonshot as the one which seemed to tick all my boxes.
I liked the look of the tank, the 2ml limit was not an issue for me being I prefer stealth and I would only need to top up maybe twice in the course of a day. They usually have a fair selection of tanks where you can try but this one they didn't so I bit the bullet and went for it. I was all too aware I was going to be paying more than I could get it on the net, but the personal service was worth every penny extra, and I like to support local businesses especially when they go that extra mile. Saying all of that, I've been to loads of shops where the staff look and sound more doped up than vaped up, not a great advertisement to vaping and possibly off putting for your average Joe public; Yes this shop has clouds, yes they are young, but as soon as you speak to any of the guys (in my experience), you are engaged in their knowledge.
I hadn't bought a pre made juice for months since I started cooking so I thought i'd treat myself to add in the new tank. Again, having been in umpteen shops in the past, and just been given juice after juice to try without success, this shop has a knack of asking the right questions, and within 2 maybe 3 recommendations, they hit the nail on the head, finding you a juice that is spot on. I've been to places like UK Ecig (sorry to pick on one, just somewhere many will be aware of) where they probably have 300+ flavour juices and started feeling queezy for the amount I was given to try, and still not be anywhere near what I'm looking for. Why do most stores still have those crappy plastic clearomisers, mostly having coils well past their sell by date? This store gives you every juice to try on a small dripper so you can actually taste what you are trying. I walked out with 30ml of Siren's Lusty Lou. Flavour is quite complex fruity tones and a fresh exhale.
I had already made up my mind on a mod, and having done some research, the Inokin Coolfire TC100 seemed to fit the bill, size, power, functions and the brand name backing, I bought this from the net as the price difference was too big for me to ignore, though i would have happily paid £10 - £15 more at the shop following the service. Not an issue, I've bought two mods from them before.
The Moonshot.
I can build a coil, but they are basic, I did plan on enhancing my skills, but wanting to get up and running as soon as I could, I built two 6 wrap, 2mm, 28g kanthal coils, mounted on the deck and some organic cotton. Primed and off I went.
Note, I did a couple of build You Tube videos on the moonshot before starting.
Wow, the flavour was immense, clouds filled the room and I had a big grin on my face. Everything I wanted I got in one tiny package.
I've read a few posts saying these leak and you need to be the best builder in the world....Rubbish, I am far from a great coil builder and barring my first attempt where it leaked (only when I was adding more juice), I have never had a leak since. I'd built my first coils 2mm and struggled a little getting enough cotton through them. I re-wicked the same coils with more cotton and no more leaks.
Since then I built my first Clapton's on 3mm. My Claptons were built from scratch and are far from perfect, I think I didn't wrap the outer coil tight enough. Though they looked OK, when I started to wrap the coils, the outer wire started to separate (spread) a little. But the spread was pretty even meaning I was consistent in making a rubbish Clapton so I used them anyway , I think 2.5mm would be perfect. I've also since discovered you can buy Clapton wire on a roll
Anyone looking for great flavour, I wouldn't say beginner building deck, but if you have a little patience or are intermediate and up, enough clouds to upset the wife, this is a must try. I cannot recommend it enough. After two coil builds, I don't think it's a hard deck to build on at all. Use the allen key to hold the deck from spinning, and you will be rewarded for an extra little faf.
The combination of the TC100 with the Moonshot looks great, just the right size in my view, no leaks even if left laying on it's side, this is simply a great package for not a lot of money.
Apologies for the rambling long post, but it's been a while and I wanted to give a little back to a great forum which I've taken so much from.
