What's new

Measuring amps.

Ah OK. If they're the battery holder wires I'm thinking of they're tiny and probably only good for about 3A.

Might be worth the investment. I'm thinking about one

Definitely going to beef up the battery holders with some thick wire and connections and keep the wires as short as possible.

I'm sat here sulking as I knew already about the weakness of the battery holders standard wiring,so removed the wires from my holder & soldered on some mains cabling only to have the bloody spring get hot and collapse(and this happened with just a 1.2 ohm coil)Think my attempts at building a mod will have to go on hold until some of the gear ordered from China arrive.

I've done that too Chegs. Which is why I build my own battery holders now. I think I need to replace the tin can connections with something thicker but the concept is there. This may be something you can do instead of waiting? http://www.planetofthevapes.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=34485

My solution on my previous box mod, made from square conduit left by central heating/windows/kitchen installers (can't remember which) when the house got a makeover by the council a few years ago.I've still got some of the white plastic conduit in the shed, but it's cold out & I can't be arsed to put my boots on just to grab it. :P

This box mod is on loan & I don't think my mate would be to happy if I knocked him up at this hour

Thanks for the reminder though Seedy,I'll knock up a couple of battery holders later today(& use your suggestion of a lump of dowel to make some impressions in a piece of tin,and the springs to push them out on to the ends of the batteries I used some pieces of small bore silicon tube under the strips of brass in that box mod for the positives)

Ingenious. With both our solutions though I don't thinks its the box that's important but the connections. I fear my tin connection solution might give too much resistance. Not sure though but would be good to know what you guys think? Chegs doobedoobedo Maxcat Tubbyengineer
