Metallic Taste of RTA

I had a similar experience with a cheapo coil selection box 2 types out of 8 had that metal aftertaste - I just binned them and bought branded wire or premades after that, never happened since, I can't see cleaning the tank would solve it unless you were vaping mercury juice.

What brand are the coils or wire?

Just re-built with a new coil type which was fine before, still got a weird taste to it. Gonna keep using it throughout the evening to see if I just need to keep using it.

I'm using an 8 in 1 set from VapeFly

When rebuilding I've noticed the metal on the build deck is darker around the two poles where I insert the coil legs (not sure on the right name xD). It's almost like it was created from heat - Could this be the cause or is this normal?

Pretty stumped atm, gone back to using my old gnome tank in the meantime and the flavour difference is night and day!

Are you leaving the legs on the coils too long? That can cause a burnt metallic taste.

What I mean is, are you leaving a lot of unexposed wire between the coil and the deck? If the legs are too long and exposed this metal will heat up too much and cause a burnt, metallic taste.

Ah! Recently I've noticed that on one side of the deck, the lower leg hangs over the wicking hole whereas the other side doesn't... I wasn't too sure whether this was normal with the deck as it seems to do this all the time

I very rarely clean any of my tanks or drippers just a wipe with a cue tip. The coils get heated and brushed with a coil brush. Could it be that you have heated your coils too harshly and they are letting crap of them. When you dry burn what wattage are you doing it at?

I think the cotton rests on the wire, I also checked when dry burning to see if it heats up but all the heat is centered on the middle of the coil.

I was dry burning at 70W, on the new coil I tried it at 50W and stopped heating it up when it started to turn orange
