Hey all,

I was fortunate enough to meet Rob the other day in person, and over a cuppa he generously convinced me to borrow his Taifun and have a go building / vaping with it. Thanks Rob! It had a nichrome coil, but today during a dry burn one of the legs unfortunately gave in.

So I started to build my first micro, 10 wraps of 28awg, roughly 2mm bore.

As you can see it lights up great, but not only is it about 4ohm, but it jumps from 3.9 to 4.7 in between burns..

The only thing I can think that might be ruining it is the bore, is 2mm too much?

Sorry if pics are large, I can resize if needed..

Loose screw? And you want about 6-7 wraps around a 2mm from memory.

Not sure.. I re-tightened, re-aligned and it's been a consistent 2.9 which would make sense if you're saying 6-7 wraps. Still I put it all together and threw in some sweet voodoo.. Flavour isn't as strong as I was hoping for but it's still bloody tasty, and vapour production seems about right.

Will try 6 wraps next time! Thanks.

You have serious issues there. Are you using Kanthal or Nichrome?

With Kanthal the resistance of that coil should be around 1.6, and with Nichrome even lower. There's definitely something wrong with the RBA.

If the resistance is jumping, then yeah that has nothing to do with the coil, it's got everything to do with the connection. Maybe get in touch with Rob, and find out if this was a problem he was facing before, if not, then you may have some explaining ;) lol!

Thanks guys, yes it's kanthal, and definitely 28awg (pretty much all I use anymore)..

Was quite worried reading this thread this morning especially as the 2.9 started jumping last night, but something just clicked.. The screw on the 510.

Whoops! It's now reading 2.1 which is more in the range I was expecting, and hasn't jumped once in 2 hours. Plus it tastes better although that could be psychological..

Has it still got the o ring in the positive screw. If that is missing it would cause connection issues.

Yep it's all in tact. Like I said though think it's fixed, just forgot to let the screw out slightly from the 510 so it was making a weak connection..
