Minimum Safe Resistance

Torchy has informed me that his 350s take 5amp and the 500s & 650s take 10amp.

A good link Gilliandrea Trying to understand all this myself, is that based on wrapping the various thicknesses of wire around a certain sized needle or drill bit? I would assume that any difference in the diameter of each coil would have an effect on the overall resistance.

The resistance does not change once you make a coil, as the chart shows each size of kanthal has a specific resistance per metre length :)

If you have a 10cm piece of 0.2 kanthal, make your coil...

If you measure the 'legs' you cut off and they are 5cm (so your coil used 5cm), you will then know your coil should be approx 2.1 or 2.2 ohm's ;)

Got it, thanks.

Feel far more prepared to rebuild now! Thanks!
