What's new

More liquids less choice?

What type of flavour are you looking for?

I know you've said "less sweet", but are you looking for tobaccos / fruits ect?

Also nicotine strength and MTL or DTL?

Now I also completely agree with you regarding the market being awash with mediocre over sweetened absolute garbage.

I think out of every 30 samples we get, we might consider stocking 1 liquid.

But look around, there's still a few eliquid makers around especially on POTV whom still craft a juice instead of go bosh have all da fookin sweetner.

It would great for you to start DIYing. Start simple, once you are in it for a while you'll find that most commercial juices - especially those made in the last 1-2 years - are sickeningly sweet. Feel free to PM me and others here about help!

Question is, is anyone else exasperated by the prominence of the big baby flavours?

I see what you mean, but not really exasperated because someone likes them out there! My eyes simply fly over anything with big colours on the bottle ;)

You do raise an interesting point though, the evolution of the vape market. I do believe we don't see much innovation anymore in either gear or juices. Maybe we've reached oversaturation, after all how many apple pies, strawberries and cream can there be?

I think the increase in sub-ohm cloud vaping has led a lot of juice manufacturers to head that way - a lot don't even bother doing 50/50 mix, just high VG. MTL vaping gets through a tiny amount of juice compared to the cloud chasing market, and the manufacturers are competing against the 99p/£1.99 bottle rubbish you get in the supermarkets and corner shops. I don't think the market for better quality MTL liquids is big enough.

The subohm evolution is not new through, people have had and built RDAs for clouds for years, if anything (as another thread here says) it is raining MTL the last 2 years. I think there is less room for innovation to be honest, and juice manufacturers just aren't that brave anymore. And when they are they seem to bungle it, look at the blue series from Five Pawns (maybe someone likes them, I find them repulsive), I think if they didn't say "Five Pawns" on the bottle they'd be laughed out of every expo.

Maybe it's just local mainstream vape shops - over the last year they seem to have gone from a range of devices to almost nothing but high wattage Smok devices. I've not tried the blue series, but they sound ermmm interesting.

Sorry for the delay in reply folks. Been on me hols. Folk raising some good points, especially re the sub ohming thing - that's another bug bear of mine. I kind of DTL but MTL as well, a mix, but one thing I cannot abide is this thing people seem to have (or at least manufacturers have) for sticking a mahoosive zorst on every sodding tank. I have ONE drip tip that was in the EHPRO Bachelor tank, from the little mtl kit: a lovely narrow drip tip, everything else I have found is like wrapping yer gob around a beer bottle. Pah! I also have some of the beautifully strange stylings a la Metropolis drip tips from Siam Mods (ah memories).

Back to flavours though, I'm after aromatic, a bit of fruit is ok, nuts ok, NO to coffee, but as for the whole cakey pie with cream, ice cream, sprinkles, fruit and embolism flavours - ugh! Bleurgh Bleurgh and Bleurgh. Decadent Vapours used to do a nice oriental tobacco with cardamom, I like a touch of Jasmine or mild floral, but not pot pourri or bog cleaner flavour.

Manabush has been recommended to me before, but not convinced, have read a few comments re chemically/synthetic tasting. Rose is a nice idea, as is violet, but I have yet to find a liquid which doesn't bring grannies perfumed knicker draw to mind or just smell/taste like cheap synthetic essential oil.

I have a DV mix yer own kit in the fridge, been there since pre tpd, I read the instructions re mixing and my brain short circuited and I had to power down for a couple of weeks before rebooting, the whole numbers, fractions thing just beyond me, even tried using the steam engine calculator thingy for mixing and just aargh. No idea wtf they're on about. I've got a good sense of smell and palette but fractions? No.

Thank you, once I get my head round it I will come for advice.

I need a new mod! My lovely aspire box thing has died, I'm very sad. Just been looking into new mods and some, most of the designs are hideous, they all look like gun cartridge things. Ugly as sin. Too many daft blokes into Vin Diesel on design teams?

Drake's Oriental Tobacco isn't bad, although it's very much Turkish Cigarettes rather than Oriental pipe tobacco.Their Cavendish is pretty good - not overly sweet and an aromatic tobacco. Red Vape's Cherry Reserva is one of the only fruit flavours I've liked - pretty natural cherry flavour rather than 'Cherry Drops' (oddly much cheaper on their ebay site). I tried their Appleleaf and not quite my thing but not awful. I was recommended Manabush by several people - it clearly has a strong fan base, but I tried three different ones and found all of them unvapable and very synthetic. I will try another Marmalade flavour but my first attempts put me in mind of the citrus drain cleaner...
