TWO TAMWORTH mothers whose 13-year-old daughters were sold electronic cigarettes – legally – by a Tamworth market trader, have called for a change in the law.
Kerry Viera and Kerry Mytton were both shocked when their respective daughters Erin and Bethany (both 13) were sold the items which are aimed at weaning smokers off real cigarettes.

Now the mums want to see the e-cigarettes properly tested and regulated.

Firstly, it just goes to show my opinion on vaping stalls at markets, are they are only in it for the money, and a very few of them have no scruples. Whilst it is totally out of order, I would like to ask the following questions: -

1. Was any liquid purchased at the same time, and what strength on nic was it.

2. How many under 18's today have bought or smoked tobacco products?

3. How many under 18's will get pissed up tonight on Alcohol?

4. How many under 18's will use illegal drugs today?

In the grand scheme of things, an e-cigarette is not the worst that these children are going to encounter, and I honestly cant remember the last report I heard of kids buying any the above products being reported in the press.

Also, if my daughter came home and said, I have bought an electronic cigarette, then whilst I would not be delighted, I would rather she vaped on this than turning to the tobacco alternatives.

Yet again, just another 'skewed' report, but I do feel the vendor in question should be strung up by the bollocks!

nice little pink evod lol. mum needs to chill out, I bet those two have been smoking since the age of 5!

I'd be asking my daughter wtf she was doing trying to buy one in the first place.

I absolutely agree the trader should be slapped about it, they clearly are under 18 and although it's legal I think it's quite shocking the trader thought it was ok, I'd have told them to jog on.

Yup, ban the evil ecigs. Next time they can just go out and buy fags like a normal teenager would.

ffs.

I wonder how much the Tamworth Herald paid the two girls to go and buy a story for them? Would any two women off the street know about e-cig regulation attempts and proposed govt. ban, and know about nicotine content etc.? If the girls bought it to puff, lug on etc, would they go back and say "Look what we've bought mum", or would they hide the stuff for covert use only? The whole story stinks.

meanwhile earlier this year in essex

I agree this whole story stinks of setup.
According to the mother it was 3.6% nicotine they bought with the devices for £4, so i assume 10ml bottle at 36mg nic strength, a very strong liquid, used by few and not common place on market stalls who usually from what i have seen stock 18mg or 24.

Now i may be mistaken here, but i am sure although the devices are not illegal to purchase at any age the nicotine liquid is illegal to sell to under 18's here in blighty, so why isnt the ironically named company (LSD promotions, i'm sorry but that name really is just hilarious for arguing against the use of drugs to minors) facing charges.

sounds about as good as the one around here a few days ago.. local FB group some mother started spouting out loud OMG the boozebank ( local shop great name! ) has just sold my 13 year old daughter a bottle of vodka they need closing down and arresting immediately. My first response was well why was your 13 year old daughter buying vodka in the first place ? then she starts ranting about not being a bad mother! .. classic was next day on FB her daughter posts... never again worst hangover ever! tells me all I need to know about the mother and daughter really

Actually, the evod itself is a bit suspect. Never seen anything apart from CE 4 blister packs at a market stall myself. Matching evod and ego?
