Just checked on FB and there is maintenance info but FB is having a dicky fit when I try and view it at the moment.

29 hours in and I'm impressed after a bit of tinkering. Very impressed.

Did anyone else trim the tube down a bit as it seems overly long to me and I'm contemplating it.

Yes I trim the tube down so it just reaches the bottom of the bottle. I cut mine at an angle so it doesn't block itself against the inside of the bottle but I've seen some cut a couple of tiny V's out of the bottom, might work better.
