I had the same problem and found I had to bend the -ve contact up slightly.Boom!

Make a nipple with hammer /screw?Seems that the +ve isn't making contact. The +ve terminal isn't proud enough on the battery.

I just bent the top copper band down a bit and worked find with the aoso batteries I thought it would just bend back and be loose but its been fine for about 3 battery changes now View attachment 93390 View attachment 93391

It probably does. I'll have a tinker later. It seemed that the "shoulder" of the battery was butting up against that red insulator.
Quite impressed with the oomph behind this little beast though.
