My experience with DNA 200's ... thus far !

So here's a somewhat brief overview of my experience thus far with DNA 200 mods:

I have so far been lucky enough to have owned, used and returned 4 separate DNA 200 mods, initially I bought a custom mod from a friend for £120 (I live in England), I had it for a week or so and it died, nothing on screen, no connecting to eScribe and worst of all no vaping. No biggie I took it back to him asked what was up and he happily gave me my money back.

Disappointed but determined I head off to the website of my choosing, go ahead and get myself yet another custom build DNA, wait 9 days for it to arrive and manage to get an entire 30 hours out of it before it fails miserably and I have to contact the vendor to figure out what I am going to do this time around. The whole situation ends with me once again being refunded my money and being out of yet another mod.

YESTERDAY ... FUCKING YESTERDAY, I pick up a lavabox, first one out of the door they tell me at the shop "fuck yes" my brain tells me, "this is mass produced, tried and tested, this shit will work!" ... Will it fuck ... Open the box and oh sweet jesus this mod is beautiful Volcano, you have your shit together 100%, push the fire button and the screen is reminding me that I am finally holding a lavabox, powered by the futuristic DNA 200 ... it then went on to tell me that theres some shit wrong with the battery and the mod is fucked.

I tried soft reset, hard reset, emergency charge blah blah, just charging, updating software, updating eScribe ... NOTHING FUCKING WORKED. I return to the shop in their closing hour and exchange the box with no issues at all, I open it up there and fire my dripper. BOOOOOOM a lavabox that works !!!

Today ladies and gents a whole 16 hours into owning the box, uploading my profiles, TCRs, setting my pre heats, customising the fuck out of my finally working box, mid vape it shut off. IT STOPPED FUCKING WORKING "warranty service" it shows on the screen.

I tried again, hard & soft reset, restore to default, emergency charge blah blah blah, it connects to eScribe, it lets me monitor EVERYTHING.

IT JUST WON'T LET ME FUCKING VAPE !!!!!!!!

So I took it back, I got a refund and I fucking left.

Now this is not a stab at the builders of the boxes, they have all been spot on, in fact volcano ... your box is fucking amazing, its literally the nicest box mod I have held in a LONG time. I am virtually a mech only person, I have however owned and used everything ranging from sigelei to hexohm to sx mini and even Hana Modz, Your box is easily top 3.

Now just because a lot of you will ask, every one of the boxes I have handled have had 900 - 1100 Mah 3S batteries in, I vape roughly between 40 & 70 watts with a tank and 110 - 130 on a dripper (regulated only, my mechs normally run between 0.14Ω and 0.24Ω - If you can't figure the rest of that equation out you shouldn't be messing with mechs folks)

Tanks I could probably get around 6 hours from, so up at 06.30 am (vape and coffee) and by lunch hour or 13.00 I would be putting it on charge at around 10-15 %. Now I vape quite heavily at times and before anyone asks if my battery was set correct, the answer is yes 9.99WH, Maximum recharges, set on eScribe.

This is where you are going to want to sit down, I went to my friends place last night for some poker and beers, I left my home at 19.15 I was running a dripper with dual fused 24G claptoned in 32G at 0.13Ω & 142.5W. At just before 22.00 I got a weak battery indicator and had to vape a mech for the rest of the evening. Now I know thats a high wattage and a lot of strain on the battery, but less than 3 fucking hours of moderate use is beyond a joke, be very aware of this before buying a DNA200 with a 900Mah LiPo ... battery life for drippers = ball sucking bullshit.

Evolv .... fucking hell guys, the tech is amazing, the things you can do to the chip are unbelievable, but jesus your boards have shit on me. I am absolutely fucking astounded that right now at the price point these boxes are going for you don't have a lynching mob outside your offices.

I will probably buy again, in 6 - 8 months, when you've fixed your shit and someone has figured out how to implement a way to actually use LiPo's correctly, without them deciding to fuck us as consumers over at the slightest hiccup. But mostly, I mean the most poignant of all my points when I can walk into a B&M and the spotty faced 6th former behind the counter can plug my shit in, diagnose the issues, fix them there and then and hand me a working mod back.

Apologies for the rant here all but my DNA hurts and I really couldn't take any more !

TL;DR - Fuck the DNA 200 for at least another 6 months !!

I hear you...My hcigar VT200 died after 3 weeks. Box was spot on, but all just went dead, also couldn't get anything to work... Returned for a refund. 1300mah didnt last a day, even with just an atlantis 2 at 45w in normal power mode... 12ml of juice max. Wont even look at another one with less than 1600mah.

Back to my dual 18650 boxer mod sx350j 150w... Just works, no issues.

Have you heard of the boxer mod. U can get them in a few modes (dna200/yihi 350j) The one that interested me was the dna200 dual 18650. Yes it is limited to 133w BUT u have the dna200 chip and best of all you can change the 18650's. I can send you a link if your interested.

Now boys and girls, this is how you gripe. Can I take from this that you don't recommend the lavabox? This was to be my next purchase.

I wouldn't say I don't recommend the Lavabox specifically, if you are intent on a DNA 200 mod this is definitely one of the nicer ones available.

My recommendation at this point would be to save your money for the time being, until the issues are resolved with the actual boards themselves.

I'm probably being stupid or whatever but I was looking into the dna200 and thought why can't they use a bigger lipo? I mean my mvp3 pro is rated at 4500mah. Weather or not that's true or not I'm unsure but surely we can get more than what's currently available?

They could use a bigger LiPo, but, bigger batteries = bigger box, bigger box = less sales.

Not too many people want to walk around with 15 cubic inches of box mod in their pocket, but they are out there, I believe there is one specific mod, I don't know what its name is but it has a 2400 man 3S batteries. It's pretty huge, like a Hammond B+ size but people have ran that sumbitch at 120w for 2 days solid and had % left .... apparently.

I dont have much confidence in the DNA 200 chip either... Seems to be a large nr failing. Will also wait before I replace the VT200 that failed on me. SX350j still the best for me until the DNA200 gets sorted.
