hi guys and gals. im fairly new to this so thought i'd let others know about my vaping experience/story.
i live in australia, and stupidly in my first year of high school (i was 12 years old) my idiot friends thought it would be COOL to introduce me to my first cigarette. even more stupidly i gave it a go. after about 2 or 3 a week for about 3 months, i started to smoke 2 or 3 a day. after about a year i was buying a pack of 20's every 2 days or so. after another year i was buying a pack of 40's every 2 days or so. I was so impressionable and such an IDIOT!
i am now 36 years old and have been a smoker ever since then.
one day i was eating a muesli bar at work and thought i got a tiny bit stuck in the back of my throat. i couldnt get it out, so i put my finger into my throat to try to get it. it shocked me to find when i put my finger in my throat, it was not muesli bar stuck in there, but a lump about the size of a small marble.
Naturally with all the scare campaigns out there i thought OH NO, ive got throat cancer!
I rang my local doctor immediately and booked an appointment.
Later that afternoon when i got in to see him, he took one look at my throat and said " no you dont have cancer, but a very infected tonsil. "
oh the relief was indescribable. he then said " if you do want to give up the smokes, i may have something that may help you"
straight away i was open to the idea, for the first time in my life. he started reeling off patches, i said no, he said chewy, i said no, tablets, i said no,
but then he said electronic cigarettes.
WHAT???
i'd never even heard of these things. what are they i said. he pulled out a blank piece of paper and started writing down- V2cigs.com
(just for the record im in no way affiliated nor is my doctor with V2 cigs)
he said go home and look this website up. it may or may not change your life.
i went home and looked it up. v2 battery operated nicotine cartomizers and liquids. i watched their little video. to be honest my immediate reaction was this is a whole bunch of well presented BullSh*%. but i watched the whole presentation and read all their site info.
the next day i went into my local service station to pay for fuel, and noticed a small stand with e cigs on the counter. i picked one up and had a look.
hmmmm. interesting.
after a day of thinking about it i decided to get back on the website and order an ultimate starter pack.
5 days later i got a tracking message from the postal service marked package ready to pick up. i immediatley got butterflies in my stomach.
questions raced through my head; have i wasted my money, will they work, what if they taste like crap?
I picked the package up and went home. I opened it up. WOW i thought, looks very professional. everything is here. i read through the booklet thoroughly while i put a battery on charge. an hour or so later it was ready to go. i put on a red 1.2mg cart on a v2 automatic standard battery.
now at this stage i had never even had a puff on an ecig.
i primed it twice and then took a very large puff in. O.M.G. i thought! this really does feel/mimick tobacco smoking. i started puffing away like mad, in disbelief at how close to the real thing this was. i started swapping carts to try all the flavours out. this is absolutely the thing that is going to get me of analogue/ tobacco/ cancer causing/ death sticks.
that was 4 weeks and 2 days ago. since the moment i first took a puff on the VAPE, i HAVE NOT had one single puff on a tobacco cigarette.
I vaped for the rest of that night without having tobacco at all. the next day took the v2 to work and 2 tobacco cigs (just in case).
now i drive a prime mover for work, so you can imagine the comments i was getting from my workmates all day at work. Nice poof stick! have a real smoke you fag! etc. but to me, i think im fairly thick skinned, and i took it like water off a ducks back.
when i got home that day, i looked back on the day and thought, wow, that is the first day in over 20 something years that i have gone without a tobacco cigarette. And i don't even want one. that was my moment of realisation.
i did have a few side affects in the next couple of days though.
1. better breathing ; i had finally lost an asthma type heavy lung feeling.
2. more energy ; this meant i couldnt sit still all day on day 2 and 3, and i couldnt stop talking. eveybody noticed.
3. My skin ; especially on my face felt so soft and smooth and amazing.
4. i didnt stink ; my 4 year old daughter kept sitting beside me and sniffing me. by the third or fourth time i asked what are you doing? she replied
giggling, "you dont stink anymore. " ( something i never even realised she had noticed).
5. my taste ; i could taste flavours in food again.
6. smell ; i could smell again. which was great because now i too could smell how disgusting tobacco is.
7. money ; i didnt have to spend loads of money anymore on cigs. with the money saved in the first 2 weeks of not smoking tobacco, it paid for my ultimate starter kit.
8. i feel healthier ; in every way, stamina, energy, lung capacity, general well being, not coughing up brown phlegm.
now my story may sound like a fictional promo for electronic cigarette companies.
but this really is my story.
i owe it all to my doctor for pointing me in the right direction, even though Australian laws prevent him from actually recommending any e cigs.
i am now 100% a vapor.
i ordered my first ego up grade this week, an SLB ego-v V3 and pro tank 2, and am waiting on my first delivery of hangsen e liquid from china, should come next week.
I wrote this in the hope that maybe a person who is not sure whether to make the switch to vaping may read this and become inspired to try.
if one person reads this and it changes their habit and or way of thinking toward vaping, then i think i may have given some good to this world.
I cant believe all the governments around the world are judging vaping in the same category as smoking. they should be ashamed of themselves.
vaping may not be for everybody out there, but it sure works for me. who knows, maybe it will work for you.
thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this.
