:yoda:Hey guys!

I'm new to all of this, have a friend who has an e-cig and a few mates who have them but don't use them. Me? I've been kinda broke for a while, but really want to get one to try to cut down on smoking rolling tobacco for a good many years (about 16 years)

So hello! I'm not sure if i should be asking questions in the introduction part, so i won't! :strawberry: But i do have many questions in regards to type of e-cigs/pricing/value, but also if they want to ban this at somepoint... which is nuts, from taxing it to the hilt... blah blah blah!

Thanks for the welcome guys! Some things to ask would be, i did try a friends e-cig... i'm not sure what type it was but it was kind of like a flute type thing where he could mix flavours together, it was blue! When i've seen the ones that look literally like a cig i've not been a big fan of those (but i'm no pro!)

I was trying to look at kits, but wasn't really sure on what to look for. Being able to mix flavours i would definitely like to try. Then i started to try and see how long batteries would last for (or if you could just plug it in and use it even if it was charging etc...)

I have been kind of worried about buying into these too late, with all the propaganda/regulation/tax it to claim it's safe etc... I wouldn't want to spend £50+ only to find it was then being banned! Or maybe just buy enough juice in one go to last me for 30 years and not worry :30:

Do batteries last a fair while? A friend was saying they needed to be replaced quite often, but then again i haven't looked into it enough to really find out about it. Something i should do!

Currently, from using the flutey-plasticy-blue looking thing, where you could mix things with it i was tempted with, but what would be a good first e-cig/vape? I probably won't be able to get one for a few months but hopefully i'll be able to grab one and not chain smoke so much! :help:

Before i used one at all, i was always worried it would be like a menthol cig (no harshness) but i found out i was wrong, thankfully and really do want to grab one at somepoint for not only saving of money, but also health wise when compared to smoking 20+ a day!

What you should know is that there is an awful lot of different vape gear out there & not all of it suits everyone. There are different ways to approach vaping & it depends on your practical ability & what you feel like having a go at.

There is a lot of spin & controversy surrounding vaping at the mo' , especially in the mainstream media but i can tell you that they don't know very much & there's a lot of money at stake for big tobacco corps & pharmaceutical companies.
It's not worth getting all wrapped up in that except to support & fight for the right to vape freely & not allow them to classify vape products as tobacco, they're just after more revenue & it won't get banned when there's money at stake.
You can find out more about that later.

if you're going to move into vaping & away from smoking you need the right gear for you & if you're on a budget you would do well to do some homework & watch some serious youtube videos. Don't believe everything you hear & don't get sucked into recommendations & reviews unless it's a product you really like. What works for one person will not necessarily work for another. You'll save some shillings buy looking into it all first & this forum is a really good resource with plenty of members who will offer help.

With regards to mixing different flavours/liquids together, you can do that anyway if you want with just the bottles & a spare. If the types of products confuse you, just ask here about them & someone will normally chip in with info about individual devices..... You have much to absorb but it's not as complicated as it first seems.

Welcome to the POTV !

If your looking to just dip your toe in the water and see if it works for you an ego isn't a bad place to start, it may well be what your friend had. They can be bought as a starter kit with charger and juice for anything from £10 to £20 approx. They are disposable with a lifespan of about 3 weeks on the tank and huge variation in the quality of the batteries. Let's face it compared to what you are spending on fags if it lasts 3 weeks and you decide its not working for you you haven't lost anything.

If at that point you decide vaping is really worth investing in there are plenty of upgrade options, the initial cost is much higher but they can be kept working with cheap replacement coils so longterm costs workout better than the ego's and they do also improve the vaping experience.

The trickiest bit when starting out is selecting a juice to start with. There are 1000's to choose from and you aren't going to like all of them. If you liked the juice your mate was using that might be a good one to start with in order to give vaping a fair chance, or you could find a local vaping shop with a try before you buy policy and try a few different ones. High street juice often isn't as good as the juice that can be sourced online but it is good enough that with a flavour you like you will be able to judge if vaping is for you

I'm also new to the world of vaping. I started and still use an eGo type eCig. It's the best thing I ever done. I spent £17.99 on the kit, including a free 10ml juice. I haven't looked back since. I hope to start to upgrade my equipment shortly and enhance my vaping experience .... Good luck..
