Hey guys, so im new to vaping.
Im not sure if this is the correct category for me to post this so sorry if not.
I got the obs cube kit. I've been using and testing it for 3 days now and I finally found out that I wanna vape at 40w for sure.
The smoke and taste are perfect for me at 40w.
So heres my question.
At 40w should i use 0.2 or 0.5 coil?
On the stock coil it saya best used at 50-80w which is not my range.
I know i can read online about it but I did and still havent found a clear answer for my need.
Thanks

I use 40 watt battery not adjustable and I use a .15 ohm (think that would be = to your .2ohm coil.) I like it much better than the .5 coil I can use otherwise with my kit. The .15 coil gives more flavor and more resistance. The .5 coil felt like I was just sucking in air and I got a lot less flavor. So I would recommend the .2 coil

What i meant was whats better as far as safety, i understand that using different wattage than recommended on the coil is not safe for the baterry. So on my 0.2 coil it sayals 50-80 but im using 40. Man this shit is complicated i might go back to regulat cigs lol

After a quick read up on the cube kit it comes with the following:-

M1 Mesh Coil Resistance: 0.2ohms (50-80w, best at 65-75w)

OCC Coil Resistance: 0.3ohms (30-80w, best at 35-70w)

You can run either coil at 40w as if that's where you find it suits you the best then it's fine, the preinstalled one is the M1 mesh which will probably be the better of the two coils running at 40w will just make the coil last longer, they say 65-75w will work best but it's what suits your tastes that matters

Have a read through review in link below it explains all and goes through testing both coils too

Hi @Autis13 - don't consider the smokes again yet mate, we'll see you good :) What Cozy said it right, you can run the coil at whatever wattage setting you like, the recommended value is just a recommendation. In terms of safety - you are using a regulated mod - so you won't damage the mod or have the battery explode, all that will happen if you push the wattage too high is you burn out the coil and it will taste like shit.

What you have to understand is a simple relationship between the resistance of the coil and the power that you give it. Applying 40W of power to a 0.2ohm coil will give you very different results to 40W on a 0.5ohm coil.

The amount of power (in Watts) needs to be increased as you decrease the resistance of the coil. It's all about getting the right amount of vapour at the right temperature to get a vape that you enjoy. If you like the vape you are getting from the 0.2 coil at 40W then if you switch to the 0.5 coil you will need to drop the power to get a vape that puts out the same amount of vapour at the same temperature. As you increase the resistance you need to decrease the power otherwise the vape will be too hot.

So don't just consider the power you put through the device as being what gives you the vape you like - but look at it as a combination of the power in relation to the resistance of the coil that you are using.

Oh so you mean a 0.2 can take higher wats than the 0.5, 0.5 can take higher watts than 1.0 and so on?
Edit: Ok I get it, the lower ohm the more power im gonna need. obviously it gets different with different tools but thats the basics of it.

Yes mate, that's it. When I started vaping there was nothing below 1ohm - that's where the term "sub ohm vaping" comes from for the tanks with the big clouds - they all use coils below a 1 ohm resistance so are sub ohm.

The way it works is that resistance is a measurement of the difficulty in pushing power through the wire. Have a look here:
https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrical_resistance

If you have a narrow short road then not much traffic can flow through it - so it has a high resistance. Like the traditional vape coils and wires. A motorway is wider and longer so it can pull more traffic through it - it has a lower resistance.

Same with vape wires and stock coils - high resistance coils for mouth to lung vaping have a resistance usually of 1ohm or higher, the wires are thinner so you don't need to push as much power for them to get saturated and start to glow and give off heat. A thicker wire is used in sub ohm tanks - it has a low resistance so you need to push a lot more power through it to get it to capacity and start to give off energy as heat.

So if you push 40W through a 0.2 ohm coil it will need a lot less power to get the same coil temperature through a 0.5 ohm coil.

Okay now I understand it more. Good to know im safe to smoke with my obs cube now lol. idk whats the opinion on my specific vape, except that it for beginners, but honestly at 40W even at 30W I puff for like a second to 1.5 and the cloud of smoke is so huge man. not that this is the reason I smoke, but its nice to see it lol.
One last thing, is it a problem if my vape feels just a little bit, really a bit, warm?
Nothing crazy, not like its gonna explode or something. I honestly feel its fine just want to know if its regular.

sorry for asking mate but since you are trying to quit stinkies why don t you consider a tighter draw.something like zenith or nautilus(aio) with a high res and high nic is more simple to use works at far lower watts and from what i ve seen it s what helps people quit in the begining at least.after that if you want better taste or clouds you can try something with more air and dl draw
to answer your question do not expect the same vaping experience if you keep watts at 40.it really depends on the atty the coil and even the juice you vape.watts written on the coil are for orientation, you set it where you like it and that s it

I think @STAVROS EVDORIDIS has noticed youre puffing your kit like a cigarette but its designed to be sucked on like a hoover.
