Hi all,

So I started vaping approx 1 month ago and got myself the Smok G-priv 2 with xbaby tank hoping that I would switch to vaping instead of smoking cigarettes.

At first, brilliant right out of the box. By day 2 I wasn't smoking any cigarettes and just vaping. After the first 5 days the problems started though..... It started leaking.

I couldn't figure out any reason for this. It's filled exactly as instructed and everything is tightened up. The leak is coming from the bit that screws into the mod (that metal bit. Liquid leaks into the device, all down the sides and to the bottom).

I replaced the coil and had it fully tightened in the tank, then not fully tightened, same outcome though either way. I checked the batteries and they were coated in liquid, so not wanting to mess around with it anymore, I just put it to the side.

Today I thought about giving it another go thus my post here. Anyone have any ideas about what this could be?

Thanks

I don't have experience of this particular tank, but you will find teething problems in the move to vaping due to the many variables compared to cigarettes.

If this makes you ready to give up vaping I'm not sure I can say anything helpful, except that if you continue then you will face similar problems, because it takes a while to find the setup that suits you perfectly. It's up to you to decide whether that's worth the effort.

Hi and welcome to the planet.

What ratio of juice are you using VG/Pg.
It sounds like the 510 pin connection could be the problem. The metal bit in the middle depending on tank is usually a spring if you push it. It's difficult to explain but it could be too far in where the coil sits or too far out so juice is seeping through.
I'm half asleep typing this so hope it makes sense.

There's an air leak in the vacuum, I have had the same problem with a brand new T-Priv 3 coil today, mine was cross threaded out the box and leaked half a tank, visually I could see the top part wasn't screwed down and I could fit my finger nail in between the top of the glass, luckily the threads were okay so stripped it down, reassembled it and all was fine (no more leaks)

The best way to assemble is from the top down, screw your coil into the chimney first, then make sure your glass is pushed secure to the top, then screw down into the base, it doesn't have to be over tight, just enough to stop the glass spinning, also there should be no gaps top or bottom of the glass.

Hopefully that makes sense.

That was guess 1, the other common fault is the filler cap gasket fitted incorrectly (the white silicon bit in your top piece).

Apart from that, fill your tank with the air vent fully closed, it helps but I doubt it's your problem.

If that doesn't work photograph your tank and I may be able to spot the problem.

Yeah if you fill it with the air holes open it will piss all over the place.
You should probably not use juice which is less than 70% VG or it is too runny and leaks through the coils.
Check the screw on the bottom of the tank is tight, Ive had tanks new out the box where that screw was loose. Its called the 510 pin as it is a 510 connection between the tank and the mod.
Other than that it could be a lack of vacuum in the tank as was mentioned before.

I had the smok baby beast tank, and it would randomly pee juice everywhere for no good reason other than to be an asshole. Fine for days at a time then boom, sticky mod, empty tank, gaah! It got relegated to the back of the vape cupboard.
I'm sorry, I realise that helps little, just some sympathy for your problem and letting you know it can happen to even exoerienced vapers.
But there are a whole load of tanks that don't do this too, so don't let one badly behaved tank think that vaping isn't for you. The fact you went to zero cigarettes overnight says that vaping works for you, just this tank is being a stubborn little git!

@vapellie is absolutely right, dont let it put you off.
And my Smok TFV8 Big Baby Beast is also in the naughty drawer for causing me various issues, one of which is the expensive and unreliable coils.

Just filling a stock coil tank with the air intakes open WILL NOT cause a tank to leak. It's bad advice and just not true. It may have been once upon a time in the dark old days of vape technology, but not anymore.

Oh Im just saying that because when I was using my TFV8 Big Baby Beast 6 months ago it could leak if the air holes were open and I filled it, possibly due to the other reasons i mentioned, higher PG juice and lack of vacuum.
I believe it may be true at times and it is good practice anyway.
Did you have good advice to give @Cliffyboy1962 ?
