Hello peeps,

Really enjoying this vaping lark, and in my boredom today, I have decided I want to have a bash at mixing the stuff. I felt it was time that I started to do something with darling daughter, and this is what we have come up with!!

Now, where do I start, reading up on recipies on this wonderful site, I realise I need the following: -

Nicotine Base
Mixing Liquid
Flavouring
Sweetener

Is there anything else I need?

Now I understand that the PG element of the mix is what gives the vape, but what sort of ratio should I look at between PG/VG.

Also what Base should I buy? VG or PG?

Also I cant make head nor tail of what the different sweeteners do, why do I need these, and which in your opinion is the best one?

Also slightly off topic, but can I add my own flavourings, like you can get in Supermarkets and also colouring too??

Any opinions, experiences and replies will be greatly received. :)

HI Mate .. also starting out on this venture myself this coming week or too .. so shall watch this post with interest.

Ive had a chat or 17 with Terry leisureliquids .. hes helped me out no end in pointing my in the direction of what to get.

VG gives quantity of vapour, pg gives intensity of taste, ethyl maltol is a sweetener which isn't really a regular sweetener, it more enhances flavours and makes them come to life, other sweeteners sweeten, the more vg the thicker the juice, beyond a 70/30 vg biased ratio, you may need to add either vodka or distilled water to thin it so as to be manageable in certain devices, you can buy vg in Boots, supermarket flavourings are not recommended, if they are oil based, they are bad for you, or else you need too much to really be feasible, there are exceptions, blahblahblah, I'll leave it to the experts to pipe in, by the way, steep your juice, missy! ;)

I wouldn't recommend supermarket flavourings and i don't think colouring would be a good idea either even If its food colouring.

So basically the recipe would be as follows: -

50 ml - VG Nicotine Base 52mg
20 ml - VG Mixing Fluid
30 ml - PG Mixing Fluid

A few drops of flavouring

A few drops of ethyl maltol

A few drops of PA Sweetner

Cook in cupboard for 7 days, and hey presto 100ml of 26Mg E-Liquid ready to be used, now what would happen if I went for a 50/50 mix, I understand the amount of vapour would go down, but what would the upside be, would it be more smoother or just last a little longer??

Thanks for your help :)

Depends what flavouring you are using, flavouring can take up between say 2-25% of the mix, and nearly all flavourings you get are pg, as pg distributes the flavour more effectively, there is a mixing calculator at the top of the forum page which may help. Though I started out a 70/30 PG mix man, I have gradually lent towards 50/50, higher pg will last longer, it will not be smoother, but the flavour, and throat hit, can be stronger. ;)

Thanks dude, all answered now, I have my shopping list, i think, colouring and supermarket flavouring has been discarded. Thanks for taking the time and effort. Now to find some discounts and a supplier :)
