Next project in pipeline

Me an the kids are always making things.

Me and my two girls one at 9 the other at 13 are always making things perhaps things they shouldn't be making.knives,sheaths catapults we've made walking sticks with antler tops,big bit beech burr is over a hundred years old its going to be a clock for the kitchen at some stage.

Wow, would love t get my hands on that piece of burr. would look great with some atty and mod holes in it.

Off thread abit.

Company I've bought stuff from highland horn,which I have nothing to do with apart from being a satisfied customer is pretty good.Adam I've a cabinet maker out beside me guy works in an old church dryes his wood in the rafters,he's got loads of bits of burr I'll go see what I can scrounge.lol.
 
a few more supplies arrived this week.

19mm hss drill bit, 20x1mm tap set & 1inch dia. roundover router bit.

Why don't I have neighbours like that
 
I've recently invested in a stabilizing set up and all the juice / dyes etc, finding that you get very different results with different woods though, I'm finding that oak is very poor at taking in dye/resin which is a shame as its so abundant, but spalted beech is coming out pretty nice, full penetration of the resin and even colouration through the cross section when you cut it open.

Here is some oak burr that i did last week, unfortunately its only penetrated a few millimeters though even after 4hours of total vacuum and 48hrs of soaking. This first picture is after a 48 hour soak is purple resin, second pic is after a vacuum and soak in green resin.
