What's new

Nicotine smell - diluted from 54mg to 2mg - can still smell even mixed with flavour!

It has to be VG for me now, as I drip & subtank with 20/80 PG/VG, so the flavours use up most or all of the PG allowance. With PG base plus PG flavours, I'd never be able to go up to 80% VG

Update: First of all, I bought some pg nic (54mg). No smell and the issue has gone....almost!

The nic fixed half the problem. The smell and taste of the nic had completely gone. But that sharp sort of sting sensation I described remained! After an hour of experimenting I narrowed it down to the water I was using to dilute the vg. I bought some classikool deionised then distilled water at the same time I got the problem nic. This was what was causing the sharp/sting sensation.

PG nic/back to deionised water solved the problems.

Thanks for the replies everyone - helped narrow things down! Thought I was going a bit mad there for a while... almost like my brain was making it all up! :P

It's normal to be able to smell the nic if you are sniffing from the nic bottle.

Once the juice is mixed, you shouldn't be able to smell it. Just because it's in either PG or VG base doesn't predetermine the quality of the nicotine at all.

As in earlier post... I could smell and taste the nic after diluting to 2mg and mixing with flavour. The smell from the bottle was stronger than usual too... The nic in pg I recently got doesn't smell at all.

As I said in my previous reply, thats not normal at all. Theres quite a few reasons why this happens.

Poor quality/stored improperly.

I've used both VG and PG based nic. The best base I've ever had is the VG I'm using now, and the worst was a bottle of VG nic I've had before. As I said, it doesn't really matter what glycerine type the base is. That doesn't determine quality.

As for not being able to smell it from the bottle, maybe because it's only 52mg?
