What's new

Only get flavour during the first hit....

Yes, all you have to do is take the old wick out, burn the black gunk to clean the coil and re-wick.

That's great - I suppose that in itself will save some time. How many times can I re-wick an RBA coil if i manage to clean it well? I just don't want to keep using it if it's going to deliver sub-par performance. Thanks again Browaroo

Don't use to much cotton less is more.

Yes I don't want to restrict airflow, but don't want to have any problems with too little cotton. I'll have to experiment I suppose, but can you tell me how much of a gap I should see in the RBA once the coil is wicked?

I've just burned off my 4 months old coil on 70W to show you results. How many times you can do it ? - until the coil brakes, How often ? depends on its state and the juice you are using. I had butter scotch once and my coil was getting all gunk'ed up after a week. You just need to be careful and not to use too much power if you have any plastic bearings etc in your RDA - you can melt them very easily. Double check for hot spots once wick removed by slowly heating up until the coil glowing red. Hot spots can split your coil in half instantly. If you see any use tweezers (ceramic are the best) and pinch your coil little bit , then heat up again. There's a lot of videos on YT how to deal with hot spots. Use common sense and you'll be OK. And remember to prime your new wick with a bit of juice before vaping again. I'll be re-wicking my kanger subohm tank this weekend, i'll take some photos and upload for you. Browaroo I don't know how to thank you enough - your posts in this thread have been massively useful and have helped a noob like me persevere with vaping. I did smoke from my shisha pipe last night, double apple and mint and must admit I found the smoke very flavourful and thick but something about it felt 'dirty' compared to vaping! I'm going to continue experimenting and will take photos of my first RBA build and show them to you this weekend

Thanks again and take care

I'm using organic cotton from Waitrose as I don't like the flavour from miju. After you unroll the cotton ball, pick the best bit and cut the piece you need. Not too big - it's all about the fluffiness of your wick. The more fluffy the better it will take the juice. If you are using muji, it's even easier.

I'm using paper clip to make little gab between the wick and RDA holes. In the end nice vape and smile on my face :D

Thanks for the photos and very useful post Browaroo. I may have a go at building an RBA, as still using the vertical OCC's currently. Today I vaped Vampire Vape's 30/70 Heisenberg in 3mg for the first time and got loads of flavour! I don;t know if VV add a lot of flavour into their liquids or if the 30% PG is helping it carry better than max VG!

Have you heard of vapers tongue? Did you vape those flavours for a while?
