What's new

Portugal to tax eliquid at 60 cents per millilitre

And this is why it won't be banned here either.
I can bet Cameron and his cronies are watching this with great interest.

More money those blood sucking scum bags can screw out of the British public.

I think our government is too sensible - the current one anyway. No doubt when the loony left gets in again they'll need to fund their crazy policies somehow.

What they lose in tax they will gain on the NHS, and it's something that will be almost impossible to enforce. Liquids can be sold as food flavourings so we'll just need to find the nicotine which shouldn't be too difficult, and will be another consideration. Does any government want a blossoming black market in nicotine with the accompanying dangers and links to crime?

But if everyone gives up smoking how will they pay for their ridicules payrise and state banquets?

I think we can also assume that rich Portuguese politicians like smoking cigars and cigarillos

Savings on the NHS. I read somewhere that the NHS is already planning on which hospitals to close in 10 years time when there are no more lung cancer patients.

That doesn't surprise me, however in 10 years time it will all be private anyway.

If the government wants more money they should look at getting the billions owed by google, starbucks et al who don't pay their fucking taxes but oh no, it's easier to penalize the public for a product that reduces harm and saves the NHS money.
Vaping has got fuck all to do with the government and as soon as they announce taxation vendors won't able to supply nicotine quick enough, people will be buying gallons of it, myself included.

This whole thing pisses me off royally because it's just about squeezing more money out of people, like I said if they actually wanted money there's many places they could find it.

You know that whole banking debacle where WE had to bail them out? 80 billion that cost because there was no money any where else to pay for it. You know how much bankers have paid themselves in bonuses (not their salary, BONUSES)? 82 billion.

We elect a government to look after our interests not to try and fuck us over at every opportunity. The whole system is screwed. Fuck em all. Assholes.
