Preferred Tc metarial

Any suggestions, all?

Finding Ni200 a complete arse to work with. I understand it's a softer material to work with and, therefor, harder to work with than Kanthal for example, but I'm yet to get a build out of it that works.

Doing a 10 wrap around a 3mm post, hoping to hit 0.15 ohms, but it's so completely sporradic. Kanthal I'll hit the target ohms (with a .1 fluctuation here and there) every time, but with Ni200 it's all over the place. Sometimes i'll do a 10 wrap that comes out at 0.05, sometimes it'll come out at 0.08, sometimes it'll come out at 0.12. Out of 20 efforts, i'm yet to hit 0.15. Looking at the coils, by eye, they look exactly the same. The wraps are touching, the number of wraps is the same. It's a nightmare!

Anyone have any suggestions on alternative materials that are easier to work with? Looked into Ti but not thoroughly impressed. Maybe SS? What's the difference between SS304 and SS316 (and can the default SS304 profiles be used with SS316?).

Perhaps I need to look into NiFe?

NI200 is the least suitable of all the regularly used TC wires. NiFe30, NiFe48 and SS316 are all better alternatives in terms of TC accuracy and ease of building. More info already in this thread if you fancy a read, @mustybadger.

Try spacing your coils - I've rarely had success with contact coils in Ni200. My preference is for SS316L (which seems OK with contact coils) and NiFe30. Rather than starting with a fixed resistance target, try playing around with alternatives on Steam Engine - different wires have equally different characteristics and you never know, you might be pleasantly surprised!

The wraps are touching,

This may be the root of the problem, that you're shorting across touching wraps. You can try spaced wraps, but I'd just buy reel of NiFe30 from stealthvape if I were you.

Thanks gents,Thanks @danb.

I'll pick up some NiFe30 today. Managed one successful Ni200 wrap out of about 30 attempts. Not all that impressed with the vape either so doesn't seem worth the effort!

Received some the other day.
It's fantastic!
Higher resistance stainless claptons.... What's not to like.

It hasn't arsed about once.
I've got a single coil in a tfv4 at 0.68 ohms and a dual coil set up in a druid dripper at 0.35 ohms

I've not had a single fluctuation in resistance yet. Not one.

I really recommend this wire

About to pull the trigger on this, how many wraps do you use?
