PTC fuses

Hopefully someone can clarify for me.
I've got got PTC fuses that say they are 10a but on the specs it says the holding current is 10a and the tripping current is 18a and the carrying current is 100a.
Anyone clarify for me please. @sparkyjuice?
Thanks in advance.
PTC Resettable Fuse 10A AGRF1000

If i remember correctly The Holding current is the Max operating current at which the fuse will reset - anything above that and the fuse will hold open once it's tripped so to reset the fuse you need to get the current draw back below 10a, in practice this is usually done by disconnecting the power to investigate the fault so is largely irrelevant to E-cig mods as the power is continuosly cycled each time the fire button is pressed and released so you need to make sure you get a suitable trip current...

Thanks Tubby. So these should be alright then?

They take roughly 7 seconds to trip at 50a so should be within the safe range for most box mods, you really need to be considering how these are going to be used as that 7 second figure looks quite high!

Taking into account that most people using a box mod will be experienced vapers, that most faults will occur on freshly built atties - often with fresh batteries or is going to be an accidental hard short then you are going to be looking at very high current flows, A 0.06 resistance will draw about 70a meaning that the fuse will trip in 4 or so seconds, shorter than the average "Competion" cloud chasers inhale, so these really should do the trick without tripping out too often...

Nice one. Thanks for sharing the wisdom ;-)
