Slightly confused, I just used a nicotine calculator - it says that for a 70vg/30pg mix I need to use a vg based nicotine. If I'm using 72mg nicotine and only require a 9mg nicotine result, couldn't I use a PG based nicotine and have that as part of my 30%?

Could someone break it down and explain to me the rules of which base nicotine to use for high VG mixes?

Cheers,
Dean

What percentage flavouring are you using? I'm assuming you are using PG based flavours? 9mg PG based nic needs 12.5%, which means there is only 17.5% PG left for flavouring. If you are trying to use 20% flavouring then the closest ratio you'll get is 67.5/32.5

So if you want a higher VG juice then you will need to either lower the nicotine strength of the final juice, use VG based nicotine or find some VG based flavourings.

The simple answer is yes you could, depending on your recipe. You can only have a maximum of 17.5% for flavour because you need 12.5% for your nicotine to achieve 30pg:70vg. (see table below) If you needed a higher percentage of flavour you would have to change the vg : pg ratio to accommodate it.
This problem increases the higher the nic content required, for example, if you wanted a nicotine content of 18mg, that would be 25% of your mix and only 5% left for flavouring.

If you always make your juices with a very high vg to pg ratio, then it makes sense to use vg nic, or do what I do and alter the pg : vg ratio or nic content to get the result you want.

I believe pg nic stores a lot longer and personally I find it easier syringe.

I hope this helps.
