Hi all,

I'm currently running with 2 RTA's. The TFV4 (dual coil deck) and the Zephyrus V1 dual coil. Both come out at around 0.3ohm. Both are kanthal and being vaped at around 30w.

When originally wicking these i found that i started getting dry hits after a few hours. If i blocked the airflow and sucked to produce the large air bubbles it would wick vape perfectly for a few vapes until it all started again.

I realised that i was using too much cotton and blocking the juice channels too much. I re-wicked and used alot less cotton so that it was just resting above the juice channels. This worked perfectly for about 2 days and now i'm back to having to 'suck my mod' to get the juice to wick properly.

Any advice would be appreciated as i'm desperate to just vape normally long term without the extra sucking....

Not sure what the tfv4 rba is like but on my old subtank mini id always fluff the ends of the wick out quite a bit so it's still gonna wick but there isn't one solid lump of cotton to block the juice channels. Worth a shot if you haven't already!

Nothing jumps out, the wicking is the right length. Looks tidy, been a while since i used a tfv4. Maybe @MrTeaTime will have an idea, he's a tfv4 fan.

mmm......I usually trim mine to just above the holes in the deck so that the wick doesn't show through the holes...

ok thanks. i'll try that next time. So the actual channels are literally empty? not cotton at all?

Yep...you want it so it's just at the top of the juice Inlet...or seems to wick better. Ive also noticed that the less cotton is better as well

I've found with a number of RBA's, the TFV4 and the Bellus in particular, that there is a bedding in period when they vape well at first but then the cotton needs thinning out where it sits in the channels.

To get the wick proportions right, I use 2 strips of cotton at half the required thickness and cut one away from each tail once installed, leaving twice the thickness of cotton in the coil. After a couple of days or a dry hit, I open it up and thin the tails down a bit more.
