i know i know its been asked a 1000 times.. but i cants eem to find what im looking for in one place without going around in circles.

sooooo here goes

first up ive got a new vv/vw coming and a kanger pro 2 tank...

the vv/vw has built in ohms tester ( so all good there) but i want to also start doing my own rebuildables and this is where i get lost

so first toss up.. drip tip or tank type ( or a hybrid which i believe you can get ). thats fairly easy to narrow down.. BUT actually its not the first choice to make.
what im at a loss with is the whole wick / coil /mesh scenario
are mesh ones different from wick and coil ?

do wick and coil even go together or are they two seperate ones?
ive seen some thta look like the work of a surgeon/seamstress cross with wicks and i have hard enough time putting thread in a needle!

can you get rebuildables that dont have a wick?
coils.. ive seen wires where you have to solder bits together.. something about polarity or whatnot ??

whats mesh??

ok maybe if i said .. is something like an AGA T2 a good place to start?

ohms.. wel the vv im getting i think needs an atty above 1ohm ( or 1.2 ) so wont fire ) so thats something else to consider.

to give an idea why im confused
you have osmething like this dripping atto which has to screws and some wick and coil wound around it

and then you have this which agin is what looks like wick and coil but running into the device ( maybe because it a tank type )

another one with 2 wicks and wires ( looks hellish fiddly )

http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10005100/1400500-igo-l-rebuildable-stainless-steel-dripping

and finally this one that has a coil but i cant see any wick and the coil just looks like its wrapped around some black stick!

http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10005212/1413900-atty-clear-tank-rebuildable-atomizer-set-2-5ml

so im not to bothered about tanks.. a dripper would be i guess fine as im at home most of the day and its more for trying out flavours.. though if of course theres a hybrid with say 1.5ml tank out there that would be the best.

not looking for anything fancy either.. so whats a good starter ( across all the different choices ) easy to set up without burning the hosue down ) and going to cost lets say around £10-15

sorry if this is all been asked but would be handy to have a single 101 thread which explains all the different types, pros and cons witch maybe images and even a couple of tutorials and links to the best ideal starters ( this probably exists but buggered if i could find a sticky of it! )

TIA

this probably sums up all the different types (where/what/why) nicely. It is actually why Todd made this video I guess

Your Protank 2 is probably the best starter, without getting too funky and entering diminishing returns area

the protank isnt a rebuildable in the truest sense though, i already have a viv nova and and puritank so its just replaceing the prebuilt coils. im looking at something with a little more to play with and making my own coils. which then brings out the subject having looked of the gazillion differnt types of wire and wick
fibreglass wick, silica wick, kanthal , woven mesh, steel mesh, nichrome wire, niobium wire, nickel wire, prewound silica.. the list goes on lol!

You can rebuild the heads with you're own wire and wick, evods protanks etc share the same head

It think a lot of people start out recoiling protanks etc as a first step. Then lots go on to something like an Igo L or Igo W (drippers) to learn the next level, whilst keeping it simple. From then on...... the worlds your oyster!!

I got the Igo W, this can be set up with one coil or two. It's quite easy(?) to learn on, trial and error will teach you all the basics. The Igo W is a dripper that is great for trialling liquids.

If like me your eyes aren't great, I highly recommend getting a 'helping hands' device like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Helping-H...Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item4d034554a0

It is a minefield out there of different devices! The only other thing I can recommend is to watch loads of tutorials on YouTube.

i would rather not bother with rebuilding the kanger as i want to save that for backups to any disasters!
what looks the easiet to start would be something like the AGA S or the ATTY. which give me a tank rebuildable and looks failry straight forward.
SO now i dont risk getting ohms wrong would it be better to get one of those little meters or can i safely use my KMAX+ ( which does have protection built in.

I've always used the Ohms checker on my vamo, so you should be fine with the one on your Kmax+.

re: atty or aga-s, they are..dated now, and the aga-s is a small thing (17.5mm diameter) in anycase so its not the simplest.

common opinion now would be to point you to the aga-t2 or the rsst.

I too use my vamo to check ohms. If you're going to go down the rebuildable tank route then from what I have read on the forums here, the RSST is probably the best way to go. It's impossible to get a short circuit from the wick which you may get if the wick touches the bottom of something else like an aga t2. I had that issue in the beginning.

I agree with clint the RSST would probably be the best way to go :)

Loads of tutorials for building it using both silica and SS mesh etc, it is a lot easier than the AGA range... ;)
