I think that I'm finally ready to take the plunge with an RTA, even though I've stockpiled boxes of factory coils...10 x Z-coils, 5 x JAC S Mesh, (with 4 more on order @ 20% off), 2 x Nautilus, and 4 x Tigon. They will get used at some point.

Keep hearing about the extra flavour RTAs offer, and as I've just started mixing my own juice using experienced mixers recipes, now's as good a time as any to give them a whirl.

I've got a shortlist, from googling and Vaping with Vic recommendations...

Ehpro True MTL RTA (Best Overall MTL RTA)
Vandy Vape BSKR V1.5 MTL RTA
Vapefly Galaxies MTL RTA
Hastur MTL RTA Mini By Cthulhu
Innokin Ares 2 D22 or D24 RTA

Need something fairly simple to start with, and haven't a clue re: coils and wicks, and I presume I'm gonna need an ohm tester of some description ? And some tools ?

I'm MTL, 1.0 - 2.0Ω, and 10-12W, usually.

Any recommendations from your own personal experiences would be gratefully received, even if it's just what not to buy.

:thankssign:

@Hamish McTaxi Well i have only been vaping just over 3 Months and 2 of them have been using RTA's and RDA's, the Profile Unity being a mesh is pretty straight forward for coils and wicking is pretty easy really with plenty of builds etc on youtube, brilliant flavour like most RTA's, or maybe the Destiny which i haven't got yet but am saving up my pocket money for. easy to wick by all accounts. I am a bit bias because i love the Mesh. Also Zeus X which is nice and can do both mesh and coil if you have both decks. i just bought the mesh deck for £12.99 to go with my Zeus X RTA. There is a vast choice out there mate and a lot of them are piss easy to wick. i am sure plenty of other apes will add some more.

I MTL at around 1ohm 12w.
Coil 5 wraps spaced, 28 awg kanthal.
of the ones mentioned I have The vapefly galaxies wich is my !ost used tank is great for flavour and very easy to coil and wick, though it is a thirsty tank so would recomend using it on a squonk mod.

Ive neverused a ohm meter I use mod to check resistance. Though you may need some tools.
you can get coil toolkits for about £10 and should contain
a coil jig with different diameter s for wrapping the wire around.
Wire cutters.
Pointed tweezers,
scissors
Some will have screwdrivers aswell

I'd go for the True as a first MTL RTA - it's not my favourite but it's pretty simple and forgiving to build, and gives good flavour. :)

Personally I don't like the filler, but it's a minor hassle and I have many, many others so it gets left out. You will move on, probably, eventually - but it's a good start.

I don't mind MTL but prefer DTL maybe it's because i was a heavy smoker and used to filling my lungs with smoke.

Just to add, I tried the earlier versions of most of your list - I still use the original Berserker Mini and Hastur Mini, but didn't find them as forgiving as the True. Not tried the Galaxies MTL RTA ........... but my most-used tank is their Galaxies MTL RDTA, though it is thirstier, and it's possibly not a great starter. The earlier Ares MTL tanks were to airy for me, so I've not tried more recent versions. Hence suggesting the True. :)

...... and by the way ........... I hated the Goblin Mini and it leaked like a bastard! :D
