OK, I'm thoroughly confused by this. I am thinking about a KFL+ but have looked at various videos/reviews and am now drawn towards the Russian 91%.
If I understand it, the R91% is a clone of the KFL+ and much cheaper, some say better too.
I look on FastTech ad bugger me if there are not seemingly loads of R91%s ... WTF?
Are we talking clones of clones of clones here? Is it possible to get an original R91% or is that an oxymoron?
Do you know what you're getting from FastTech or is it bugger's muddle? Is the most expensive one likely to be the better one, can you trust the reviews?

Yes, it's my first RBA and the first time buying from FastTech.

On ft I read the discussion thread more than the reviews. The black KFL+ I have from there works well but feels and looks a poorer quality than the one I bought from a local b&m. But it was 20 quid cheaper so...

I can't help with the Russian 91% sorry.

I got my KFL from elegant vapour, it's a b&m in stoke but they have a .co.uk website you can order from. I find they have high quality clones.

Id recommend the Kayfun lite plus v2 out of all the variants!

For what it's worth, I've tried a variety of Kayfun type clones along with one authentic KFL that I treated myself to. Out of the whole bunch, my 1st ever purchase, a Ftech Russian 91%, SKU 1552300, beats all of the rest, hands down, including my authentic KFL, and it's the one that I have in use for 91% of the time.

Hi, i have found authentic russian 91%'s on U.S site and they will set you back around $99. have not found any on U.K sites only knock off's. having sead that i have a FT 91% and its great on complates at all but what made me pick the 91 over kfl was the + was not out at the time if it had been maybe i'd have got it instead. on much help i guess but there you go.

Thanks guys, sorry for taking so long to reply ... though not as long as FT ... ;)
I got the black Russian in the end, SKU 1720600.
It has leaked on my DNA30 a couple of times now - how very dare it - but I think it's my fault. Doesn't like being filled past the window.

One question - are you supposed to use the spare o-rings on the plastic tank section, between the other two stainless sections? It seems to seal fine without those o-rings, doesn't leak there at all. Just that I see o-rings on the stainless option, which makes me think ... but I don't see any juice on the threads when I strip it down for cleaning. O-rings or no o-rings? This is the question.

Have since got a Heron clone too, which blows the Russian out of the water in terms of ease of set up; no leaks or flooding at all and amazing vapour! But it isn't black, damn it, and it is a noteably cooler vape.

The Russian Is the Unbranded Kayfun - if it leaks from the airhole, you've flooded it or the chimney top O-ring isn't sealing, if it leaks at the fill screw check the O-ring is present and the screw is tightened all the way down (there may be a tight spot or two in the threads that makes it feel like its tight but give it a bit more of a turn and it goes further).

Yes, I was flooding it and it leaked from the airhole. It doesn't like being even 3/4's full.
The o-ring at the top of the chimney is sound - nice and tight and I do juice it before assembly - as is the o-ring on the filler screw. No problems in either place.
Wanting an airy draw I removed the air adjusting grub screw altogether, I don't know if that contributed? Doubt it. The juice leaks came from the air hole as juice was flooding the deck.

Any view on the necessity for o-rings around the plastic tank window section?

My Kayfuns have them on the clear tank sections, if yours doesnt air could be leaking in via the threads and ruining the vacuum, that would likely be the source of the leaks...

All removing the grub screw could cause is dry hits with thicker liquids...

I've ordered one of the Russian 91% thingies in black, and reading the discussions on fasttech seems to need the wick ever so slightly sitting IN the juice channels, not just resting on top of them.

Can't wait to get mine and have a play, will probably have to wait 2 weeks knowing my luck :28:

Decided to pair it with a black panzer style mech mod and also bought the quartz glass kits in black to keep up with the theme of black, and also a Taifun style dripper, also in black.

Think i might christen my construction a "Black Russian" very orignal :grin2:
