What's new

Should I roll my own?

Taking the plunge into mixing was the best thing I did. Couple of custards for my adv and a couple of simple flavours to break it up a bit, I've saved loads and not paid for a bottle since Christmas.

You have an advantage that your tastes revolve around variations on a theme so with a small collection of concentrates you could end up with several mixes with the same flavours but different dominant ones to keep your taste buds interested.

Remember to wear laetrile gloves and be very careful with nicotine base - I started with 54mg which is plenty strong enough to start with. Now I'm playing with 72mg stuff.
£28 for 250mL from CloudVapours.

Depending what strength nic you use depends on how far it will stretch. VG is thicker, sweeter and bigger clouds but can gunk up your tank and delivers less flavour. PG is thin and gives good throat hit and lots of flavour. Personally I only use PG but many use a mix of between 30 - 80% VG with PG.

Good luck it's really fun ... I bet you'll be making "aniseed cinnamon bun" in 6 months :2thumbsup:

Thanks everyone for your advice. I think I have been convinced.

So if I buy a starter kit and some extra flavours from here and there... what is the process?

I assume a juice needs to be steeped for a couple of weeks before it tastes right. So how do you know what it is going to be like before you mix it? Is it guesswork?

It's educated guesswork - after a few mixes, you learn which flavours cut through more than others and so which ones to use less/more of, as well as which flavours become more potent with steeping etc. You get a "feel" for it. Having said that, not all mixes need a lot of steeping - the Seduce Juice Snake Oil clones, for example, can be vaped after about 10minutes in a hot water bath.

I bought a DIY mixing kit about 6 months ago and haven't bought a single premium juice since. Call me tight, but if I can make 30ml of Calipitter Chow for just over £2, I'd be mental to pay £15 for the same juice at ratios that aren't perfect for me.

have a browse on dot1ml | E-liquid calculator & recipe database for inspiration and a jump start on how much of which flavour to use.

Just get stuck in.
A measuring cylinder of an appropriate size would be a good thing to do the mix in(I do not have yet)
The other things are syringes I use 10ml and 3ml.I also have 1ml.Though I do not use the smaller ones because I have a better solution for accurate quantities of less than a ml (lab grade 1ml pipette)
Measuring accurate quantities at a fraction of a ml is one of the problems to be overcome with small batches that get easier when mixing larger.
So play with a calculator decide your mix measure it into something mix and bottle and take notes so you can adjust next time.
Oh I forgot the voodoo rituals people believe helps steeping. Either use other peoples or invent your own.

Im the same happy to vape anissed type juices all day then something different in the evenings..manabush (fked if Im trying to make that I suspect many have tried and died in the process).
Anyway I just use t-juice concentrates.

You could use some ready blended flavours.. Have a look through ChefsVapour for some that take your fancy.. There's a huge selection.

I don't really see the need, unless you're interested in it from the hobby aspect. If your ADV costs £1 a bottle and you're happy with it, you won't be saving much.

I've been mixing my own from the beginning and it's taken me 18 months to perfect a couple of juices, but overall, you can't match the real quality premium juices.
