What's new

Should I start dripping

You want something with big posts and a large deck, so go for a Mephisto V2, Veritas, Wotofo the Troll RDA or a Darkhorse RDA

I think you are confusing what the op wants and what you want.
For testing juices I would suggest that what is required is a small chamber, the ability to build a single coil and that it can be quickly rewicked. The derringer fits the bill better than your sugestions.

I've just started using the rba section on a subtank, the taste is so much better than the occ coils, haven't got round to coiling my own coils yet, still using the pre coiled metal, so that's my next step along with a dripper :)

I've been meaning to do that with mine, but for now have just been using the OCCs. I suppose I really should try as it would be a good starting point.

Not particularly there dude, I already own all of those atties (bar the Veritas, as I got rid of the two that I had) with along with 28 other RDA's, so there is not any part of that post that suggests that at all. All three of the ones I have recommended can be used with single or dual coil builds and offer excellent flavour which is perfect for testing juices. Also, if the OP decides to plump for a clone of these stock is readily available and cheap. From the last year of pretty much solidly using just RDA's until recently I made my recommendation based on a combination of ease of build, deck size, flavour and long term satisfaction that the OP may get out of them. If you cannot rewick any of my recommendations quickly then you won't be able to rewick any RDA's quickly.

The QC on Derringer clones is very hit and miss and there is no way I would recommend one for a noob. The post holes are small and not ideal for a newbie.

Fair enough.Just a difference of opinion.I would personally go for a smaller dripper for testing juices. My personal favourite is the Igo-l small build deck no post holes and no air adjustment.I did not recomend it because it is such a minority view. Each to their own.It is always good for a poster to get a diversity of opinion.

Absolutely, personally as a noob I preferred bigger post holes and a large build deck. Made me feel more comfortable that my coils were not shorting against anything on the deck as I was using mech mods at the time, and stupidly, I didn't get my first ohms reader until 2 weeks after I started building (blame FastTech). High power regulated mods didn't really exist!

To be fair though, when I was a noob, there wasn't really any of the mini drippers available in the style of the Derringer or Freakshow Mini, having a dripper was all about low ohms and chucking clouds with no regards to flavour! Igo-L I will fully agree with you on, that is a great one for a newbie to test juices with

Noob here! Found the troll incredibly easy to build on (first ever dripper couldn't be happier) wouldn't recommend for flavour however, my juices taste a bit muted so if using for juice testing maybe not the best option? Of course I have no other RDAs to compare it to so I could be talking out my arse :)
But yeah, bit of advice from folk on here and I'm building on it quite happily!

I will admit to having been tempted by the Troll, if in part because I am a sucker for internet culture references.

I won't lie it's one of the reasons I bought it :P
But also coz it was recommended as really easy to build on (turned out to be true) and it's only 15 quid!

Where did you get it from for that price? I have been thinking of getting a dripper soon.

And while on the topic, I know people say to get an ohm-reader, but wouldn't a regulated box mod which displays ohms work just as well?

I think the site was called evolution vaping. But I'm sure around 15 is the average price for it anyway.

And your regulated mods will display ohms but they're not always very accurate so I'd go with the advice given here and get a meter to make sure you're building safely.
