What's new

should we be worried about uk vaping?

plenty of us have rta's from years ago that are probably at least 97% as good as the last tank we bought and they are quite indestructible n'all so are well set. As to the rest get into rebuilding and get a handful of tanks that suit

Aint nobody taking nothin away

the problem over there is a holes trying to make a buck ...

There are people trying to make a buck everywhere :)

I think people are right to be concerned, to a degree. I think they’ll be higher prices and fewer options in the future, which will obviously affect those who can’t use rebuildables or mix their own liquid.

The days of the US sneezing and the rest of the world catching a cold are coming to an end. It's pretty clear to the rest of the world the situation in the US is CRAZY right now. Yes, they are the biggest market currently, other markets are still growing but I think there's two important points.

1. The UK doesn't follow the US in laws in many various ways, most obviously guns and this isn't one I think the governments will find overly important to be aligned on. Especially with our government recently (in political terms) setting their own regulations on this as well as many organisations being behind vaping. The government wants to be spending less on smoking problems in the NHS and so far believes vaping to be part of that. The US doesn't have that same issue at a government level.

2. The US situation is far from set in stone, this essentially came from trump and filtered down. They're gearing up to go into their next election. It's a ban on flavours that may be very difficult to actually enforce, people will adapt like we did. If there's even the will to enforce it long term which I seriously doubt there is. Trump has said a lot of crazy stuff and not followed through on it. Money sways politicians in the US very quickly and with Marlboro having a large stake in JUUL they will be throwing money at this if it goes properly countrywide. It's far from done and nothing is forever in the US. It would have to become the status quo for a reasonable period and if trump loses I think we'll see all sorts of things being reversed. So hope he loses or wins and forgets about it. The man can't seem to keep his mind on one thing for very long.

Don't worry about here but as someone else said, be vigilant. If anyone starts making moves be prepared to counter it. We thought things were heading towards the end with TPD but really, very little has changed. bubble glasses come separate sometimes (not really enforced properly), you have to add your own nicotine to go to shortfill from how it was and it's marginally more difficult to get more concentrated nicotine. Oh, and manufacturers have to spend a ton of money on 10ml bottles so prices on them went up. If anything else changed I missed it. Things got a little more expensive and tiny little bit less convenient.

I think the real reason behind 10ml bottles and 20mg nic is preparation to start taxing liquid.
Step 1 get rid of the diy liquid and regulate volume.
Step 2 introduce a small tax to each 10ml bottle
Step 3 increase tax on each 10ml bottle
Step 4 goto step 3

Shortfills buggered it up though so i think they will try to find a way to end shortfill shots etc

The main thing to worry about is the new users and potential new users seeing all this in the media and online and being dissuaded from vaping, due to all the false information & fake news and as I have seen a couple posts around, even going back to the smokes

TPD3 is looking to correct some of the things they didn’t anticipate in and tweaking from TPD2 and, Brexit or no, the word from the corridors of Parliament is that it would likely be adopted into legislation regardless.

This is something you could choose to help you favourite advocacy group with by donating time, money or simply clicking on a link that means Amazon pay a donation every time you shop.

Plus, WHO will be pushing nations to get tougher on vaping because latest studies say they are a bunch of dicks.

On the other hand, the organisation that had a possible issue with vaping held satisfactory talks and remains firmly behind tobacco harm reduction as it stands in the U.K. so, everyone of those organisations who released a policy on ecigs? It was one of them. This is good news.

Also plus, and this could be really incredible news, something is currently taking place that “could” (yes I fucking hate using that word)...could throw a rocket up the arse of where you are and aren’t allowed to vape in the most spectacular fashion. No deadline for this but as soon as I hear, POTV will be the absolute first to get the outstanding news - and this means the absolute first to hear. When I was told what was taking place last Friday I laughed. I laughed the laugh of a man who is relishing this outcome.*

On balance, with my advocacy hat on, support your advocacy organisation. We have one, they do a sterling job with no money, there’d be no government committees supporting vaping without the NNA. I don’t get cash from plugging them. And who else is going to attempt to influence TPD3, huh? Ranty blokes with video channels won’t.

*I may be sworn to keep secrets but I did tell them I tend to blab when drunk. Fancypants gin can be sent to Mawsley, Mawsley Towers, The Independent Republic Of Mawsley, nr the 1 Stop, Northants.

Give it a few days & Mayor of London & Met Police will propose.....

A " Vape Amnesty " - where you drop off off your banned vape gear without fear of recrimination

OK - ultra silly bollox, but let's not piss our pants just yet
but world seems to be getting more paranoid & madder by the day
