What's new

silly mixing question

Still on topic I hope, 4drops.co.uk, is this based in the UK? I notice on their site that they seem to be based in E Europe, is that right? What's their delivery times like?

They are UK based but ship from Poland. Delivery times vary according to the whims of the postal services - but I have had stuff in 3 days and the worst was when Royal Mail sent the bloody thing (along with a few other POTV members bloody things) back to Poland - it's normally about a week. Well worth shopping with as some of the concentrates are unbeatable and the prices, particularly with POTV code, are brilliant.

I would watch and subscribe to todd youtube page as he has taken the first step in to mixing up his own e liquid. I tried and failed on my first attempt but I done everything wrong and after watching todds video it has inspired me to start again

just watched this....and short of having a dripping device for testing it looks like what ive been doing is right...although i have done a complete 1 mil mix first rather than without the nic...this i shall be doing in the future :)....hopefully ill be getting a nice dripping atty this week so i can carry on in my ventures :)

I would recommend getting a small bottle of the cheapest vodka and some Milton fluid. Any 510 or 306 atomizer will do for testing - as long as there is no fibre (silica wicks etc) in there. You will find you want to clean these out regularly.

Cleaning methods include

a) Blowing excessive juice out of the bottom of the atomizer onto tissue paper
b) (a) + dripping VG or PG into the atomizer and vapourizing this off
c) Dripping vodka into the atomizer swirling it, blowing out onto tissue paper and dry burning
d) Washing in tap water & drying
e) Soaking overnight in vodka
f) Soaking overnight in Milton solution then washing under a tap and drying
g) Soaking overnight in vodka, washing out soaking overnight in Milton and washing out (extreme).

Test atomizers get hammered - I have had two start to physically fall apart whilst still functioning perfectly - cheaper is better.

You might find that you do a lot of dry burning and have the drip tip(s) in and out of these a lot.

1ml mixes are a good idea if you have graduated 1 ml syringes and if you are not concocting and using tiny amounts of very powerful concentrates - for this 5ml samples are better.

Another thing to do with super strong concentrates, such as tobaccos is to cut them into PG before you mix them - e.g. with a tobacco, create a 10% solution first. If you add 1 ml of this 10% solution to 9ml of base, you will have created a 1% final mix. The cut solution for mixing doesn't have to be 10% - it could be 50% or 25% - anything that is weaker and which you can easilly do the sums around will give you more control.

again thanks bryan...all being well its this one im getting...still waiting on alex :)

I wouldn't get this for flavour testing - it's a rebuildable and as such you are probably going to end up with silica wick in there. Any cheap 510 atomizer or 306 atomizer will do, though generally 306's are a bit too good for flavour testing and sometimes when you mix using a 306 for testing you get too good a flavour and when you put the juice into a tank it can be dissapointingly weak or worse - different in flavour.

This http://vapourhut.com/atomisers-cartomisers/Atomisers/510-Atomiser would be better for flavour testing as it is all metal (no silica wick) so easy to blow and wash e liquid out of. Anything like this (all metal) will do - the cheaper the better - test atomizers get abused and their life span can be a lot shorter than in regular normal use.

again...thank you...will look into getting this cos a friend wants a kit so prob use alex again if this order turns up all ok :)...i did order the venus for flavour testing but looks like it may be for normal use now...will try anyway :)

edit...if i got this which resistance one to get?...in my order im getting a vv so can vary things up a bit so is 1.8 or 2.8 best and why?

The lower the resistance the higher the power consumption for a given voltage:

1.8 ohm at 4.2 volts = 9.8 watts
2.8 ohm at 4.2 volts = 6.3 watts

The more power, the hotter the vape and the more vapour produced. On the flip side, the hotter you run an atomizer the quicker it is likely to burn out. I use atomizers that are in the 2.4 to 2.6 ohm range for testing. It is the flavour I am testing for and as long as I can get enough power to taste this, it's all I need. Hope that helps.

for what they cost think ill get one of each and play about with the vv then...the few bits ive ordered so far ive gone middle of road with 2.4
