Yesterday I had an Alien Clapton fail, for some reason the coil burnt right through. I have been using Alien Claptons for years. I had a box of SS316 Round Wire 3mm coils, that I have never even bothered with, as they were the only coils I have I chucked a pair in and wicked them. I pulled them out a touch just to give them a little spacing.

Bloody hell the flavour is sublime. I always thought you needed complex wire to get the flavour and vapour production. These things are superb.

Been saying this for years myself, the only person who agreed with me was @Mawsley . Welcome to the ranks of the enlightened. No doubt the roasters will appear bleating on about their super-fancy complex coils they paid a fortune for, convincing themselves it's not snake oil. Easiest way to deal with them is to smile, nod and keep doing what you're doing.

I have recently found my self going right back to basics as well. A simple 5/6 2.5mm wrap at around 0.7ohms. granted it's twisted. But forgot how simplicity can sometimes yield amazing results.

My philosophy. Let them do them. You do you.

I used to make, and also purchase, complex coils myself, that needed a lot of power to fire. I find with a simple roundwire coil that has the same surface area I can get something that can produce as much vapour and will only need about 30W instead of 100+.

So I stick to simple coils now- some people may genuinely be able to taste a difference, but I am not one of them.

I can save on wire, save on battery, and save a lot of time when it comes to building the things that I just use simple coils now. Thats not to say I wouldn't get a set of fancy coils again, just that I find a simple build is more than adequate enough for my needs.

I'm the same. Recently gone simple and 25 to 30 Wats Max. Instead of dual fused staggertons or what ever you decided on that day to make or buy. 100w plus.

I remember the days when that was high power after spotting my Cloupor T8. Surprised the thing still works lol. Dual 18650 30w max. If we wanted higher than that it was a calculator and a mech.

You can take my high multi core Fraliens out of my cold dead hands😂

Possible you been using a dead coil for while.
I'm not saying roundwire or flatwire is bad I've got spools of it, plenty of old kanthal thats gonna get binned tastes like shyte to me.
Only two atomizers I use round in are tiny chamber MTL RTA's, complex coil is to much for them.
I'll never buy a SS complex coil as they dont hold up very long, flavour drops then they taste bad so a waist of money.

Being mainly a Boro user i generally used Single Wire Coils and Flavour is always good. A while back i was spoilt by Naturevapes 1.0ohm Claptons and started making my own on the Daedalus. Since my stroke i have taken to ordering similar from China. They are classed as Complex by some but i don't think they are. Certainly improve my MTL Vape.
