Hi,

A couple days ago I bought the Smok Mag kit with the tfv12 prince tank (UK edition which has smaller tank).
And I primed the coil properly, made sure it was nicely saturated and vapd for 2 days fine.
But now It suddenly tastes metallic, super disgusting.
I only vaped between 40 and 80 watts.
Mostly around 55 - 60 watts.
I mean the cotton itself is still white not even yellowish but I'm getting this horrible
metallic taste now.
Anyone know what that could be or how to fix it?

Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the planet.

smok coil are at best hit and miss and at worst totally shite.
there are plenty of posts saying various smok coils are only lasting a couple of days thanks to their terrible QC
what juice are you using as if it is high in sweetner then there coud be your problem as sweetner is a coil killer.

As Mr DJ says, the coil has gone.

Afraid to say that 2 days is quickly becoming the average life for Smok Coils, I remember when you used to get a couple of weeks... Fond memories!

Smok are either not producing the quality anymore out of incompetence or... A cynic would say, it's deliberate in order to sell more coils... Who knows!?

My first Mag the coil didn't even last 1 day, I was using a pudding juice which the stock coils don't get on with but still it should have lasted longer.

But the main solution is convert it to an RBA/RTA where you build you own coils, there's a thread earler where a new to RBA's had the same issues and is now an RBA convert, it's the best way to go and a lot easier than you think, it turned a nightmare tank into my all time favourite.

Makes no sense, they end up selling less as most users give up on Smok in general or convert to RBA's

That said, since I started the habit of opening the refil cap every few uses the coils are lasting longer, I have a 3 month old M4 coil still going strong in a Prince Stick - it just won't die - shocking! but I'm sure Smok will find a way to reduce it's life.

That is very true.I just struggle to think of a reason why their coils have dropped off a cliff edge in the past 8/12 months whilst other manufacturers are improving.

Anyone with a Baby Beast now I encourage to use Vapresso NRG coils. Last soooo much longer usually.

TBH I personally have never had an issue with the longevity of the stock coils, I could always get a couple of weeks out of a coil. My issue was the price. I liked the Q2s @.25 ohms. On eBay I can get a pack of 5 for £10, in my local B&M they are £15 for the same. So that is £50 a year on coils. The RBA deck on my Baby Beast cost me £4 from GearBest and the coils/wicking are going to cost me about £2 a year.

My advice to anyone with a Smok Tank is to buy the RBA kit for it, invest in a pack of pre-made RTA coils and a big bag of Muji. You will have a tank that is easy to wick and a flavoursome vape.

Wow, thank you all for all of this advice :)

Damn thats a shame to hear and yes I was using 0% nicotine, 70% VG / 30% PG Juice,
that has sucralose as a sweetener and really tastes very sweet (Vanilla Iced Coffe),

So I understand that the general opinion here suggests,
that I switch to "RBA" which means to build my own coils appearently.
If that solves my problem I am 100% willing to look into that and will see what i can find on google as tutorial,
but can anyone reccomend a good one maby or easy to understand ? :D

Thank you all again for so many replies :)

if you want a decent tank that i class as the smok killer then the cascade from vaporesso is the one to look at. i dont build my own coils so cant advise on that.

You don't have to build your own coils. You can buy pre-made coils that just you just screw to the deck and run a wick through. For example I got a sample pack of 48 coils for under a fiver, a pair of coils lasts me about 6 months. Wicking is just organic cotton pad cut into a strip. I have just bought enough Japanese organic cotton to last me several years for £4.05. There are many YouTube videos on how to wick/coil a tank.
