Hi there.
Just started to try temp controlled vaping.
Bought myself an X Cube II and a Doge v2 for the lols.

Using Nickel Ni200, 28 gauge, I built a dual coil set up on my doge at about 0.25 ohms. 17 wraps each side...

Seemed to work well for 10 mins, now for some reason it'll only work in TC mode for 2 seconds before jumping into watt mode on it's own...

Anyone have any ideas??

Also, since the sample mod was sent out to the usual reviewing suspects, I thought the production model had the ability to charge through USB??

Thanks for any help!

Hey are you doing spaced or touching coils for tc? Spaced coils avoid any hot spots or variations in resistance which seems to be more stable for tc vaping IMO. USB for firmware updates only im afraid guessing at this price point smok didn't want to stick in a balance charger for the series cells and I wouldn't trust the charger they would out in tbh especially after all the crap with the IPV ones... Such is life!

I assume the firmware is up to date as I can change the coefficient on the mod, without the app.
I can't download the installer software anyways as I'm on a mac. bit of a shitter...

I've just tried a couple of spaced coils (after a quick google!) and it seems to be working better.
Got it set to 600F and it's not the hot vape I was expecting.

Using 28g nickel. Single coil. Got about 7 wraps around a 4mm bit.

Anyone have any better suggestions?

Thanks for your help Beastie!

Tbh the newest firmware has made me not use it in TC as I switch between different types of coil frequently and 1.092 seems to have removed manually selecting the wire type and I have to use the app again.... Which now locks the puff counter. Fed up with smok changing the firmware to fix one thing and then break another so it's been consigned to kanthal dripper duty for me while I enjoy the ipv d2 for TC! Top tip, always zero out the ohms by pressing the fire button before screwing your atty on as sometimes it doesn't pick up a new coil and fires the coil altering the resistance and then you have to wait for a while for the baseline resistance to settle again and then retry.

Ah I see. I'm half tempted to send it back and get something like an ipv4.
I tried firing it then screwing the dripper back on. Seems to have made a small difference. I reckon I could improve on my build. Think I need a lower resistance to get a hotter vape.
