frank, it may well be cheaper for you to smoke instead of shelling out on vape gear all the time. But as long as you don't get the shiny bug, it's actually a hell of a lot cheaper, once your set up.
We are all a bit differnet in this, depending on how many and what you smoked. And how much juice you get through vaping.
For me, now being setup, if I didn't buy any new shiny bits. Juice would cost about £12 a week, recoiling 5 tanks £1 so about £13.
If I still smoked, that's 20+ a day at the cheapest in can get £6 times 7 days, so at least £42 a week.
On to the rewicking/coiling. It is possible to rebuild most coil heads, in most tanks. As long as the tank is a rebuildable type. And some are very hard to do. most are easy though, once you know how.
Here's a starting point.

Ignore the title, the princeable is the same for most types. See youtube for recoiling vids. But you will need some way of testing coil heads you do yourself, To check the ohms are not to high or low, or it's shorting. Most people that rebuild their own use a mod (vamo SVd) or some other will ohm testing option. Or a multimeter. (yes more expense). I was going to add that, being new, buying replacement heads would be better, but it's not, it's just waste full in my opinion. But to each their own.
Myself, I've been vaping since june, and went ciggie free from 1st august. And it has started becoming a hobby of sorts. I didn't have to get a bigger box, I had to get another box altogether, and a mod stand. Also robbed a vanity case from the OH. Not forgetting the travel pouch for the recent holiday. (that had more in on the return than it did going).
So yes it might have been cheaper for me to smoke. But the cash would have gone up in smoke. Instead I have a good selection of vape kit to play with. A house and car that does not smell of smoke. And a misses and kids, that no longer suck my second hand smoke.
For me, 35 years of burning hard earnt dosh, has come to an end.
